WORK EXPERIENCE

September 1990 – May 2010 Detroit Diesel Corporation 13400 W. Outer Dr. Detroit, Michigan 48239 Eight years ago I transitioned to the position of “Leader” in the industrial truck garage. In this position I support the mechanics and our customers within the plant. My duties would be to schedule and maintain a smooth flow of vehicles through our repair facility. Communicate fairly and concisely with the owners of the equipment about the progress of repairs. I order all repair parts for our equipment fleet. I manage and maintain our parts room, approximately one million in inventory, establishing minimum and maximum quantities and disposing of obsolete parts when necessary. Working with vendors is ongoing, always looking for ways to save on parts expenditures without sacrificing quality. I support our mechanics in their troubleshooting and repair procedures, communicate with our material handling suppliers when an unusual failure occurs, argue on behalf of Detroit Diesel for warranty adjustment, and initiate technical training for our staff when it is needed. I source, negotiate pricing, order, schedule and receive all short term rental material handling equipment used to support any special needs in the departments or for facility maintenance and engineering project work. In general I am the point man to come to when anyone on campus has a question, issue or concern about any piece of material handling equipment used within the plant, or for a recommendation on a future equipment purchase.

I started my Detroit Diesel career as a Journeyman Industrial Truck Mechanic, repairing and rebuilding all lift trucks, mobile cranes, mobile work platforms, tuggers, scooters, essentially all rolling equipment used within the plant. I also spent many years assigned to the AGV repair area, maintaining, repairing and rebuilding all components and systems on the Automatic Guided Vehicles.

(Clark Lift Truck Dealer) 2045 Austin St. Troy, Michigan 48083 Employed as a Territory Manager/Salesman, I am responsible for maintaining a dominant market share on all products we sell in my assigned territory. I represent new and used Clark forklift trucks, and a variety of associated products used in materials handling, such as very narrow aisle, and rough terrain for the construction industry. Along with these products; we offer and I have sold a wide range of leasing programs and maintenance contracts. Clarklift of Detroit Inc. has been in a growth mode the past 4 years, each year bypassing the previous year’s sales record and I have consistently placed in 1st or 2nd in sales volume.

September 1982 – March 1984 Fraza Equipment Inc. (Caterpillar Lift Truck Dealer) 15725 Twelve Mile Rd. Roseville, Michigan 48066 Employed as a Parts and Service Representative, calling on customers selling Fraza Equipment’s aftermarket parts and service capabilities, quoting major and minor repairs, informing customers of new service developments and product improvements, and assisting to resolve any parts or service complaints.

In august 1978 I was promoted to the position of Training Director for the Parts and Service Divisions. My duties were to develop and conduct monthly technical classes for all personnel in these divisions, as well as for customers. I taught entry level classes along with advanced classes on Electronic Systems, Fuel Systems, Engines, Transmissions, and Hydraulics for dealership technicians. Also, I provided Operator Training Classes for our customers. Another ongoing function of this position was to solve any technical problems that the mechanics came up against. This involved searching through service and parts manuals, and quite often factory communications. Also I was involved in Parts problems, whether they were of procurement, design defect, or improper manufacturing.

South Portland, Maine I started in this dealership as a mechanic and grew into the position of Service Manager.
