ADMISSION TIMELINE FOR 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR

Thank you for your interest in The Out-of-Door Academy. We are pleased that you are considering our school for your child’s education. To facilitate the admission process, we recommend that you follow the guidelines listed below. These steps are important and necessary in expediting our admission decision.

. Campus Tour/Visit - Prospective students and families are invited to visit the Out-of-Door campuses and see the students, faculty, and curriculum in action. Tours are scheduled during the week. Please call the Admissions Office to schedule a personal tour.

. Application/Application Fee - Complete and return the Application for Admission, a recent photograph, and the $100 application fee. The admission process for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants must be completed by February 2, 2015, for an applicant’s file to be considered for the February 13, 2015, notification date. All other applicants applying for grades 1 through 12 must complete the application process by March 2, 2015, in order for an applicant’s file to be considered for the March 13, 2015, notification date. Applications received after the deadlines will be handled on a rolling admissions basis, pending space availability.

. Parent and Student Questionnaires – The student questionnaire is to be completed by students applying to grades 4 -12 in their own handwriting. Student “OUTstanding” assignment is to be completed by the students applying to grades 1 – 12.

. Confidential Teacher Recommendations/Release of Information - Complete the applicable forms and send/give to your child’s current school. These forms should be completed in early January and mailed directly back to The Out-of-Door Academy Admissions Office by the applicant’s current school.

. Testing, Classroom Visitation, and Interview

Applicants for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten - The Admissions Office will contact all Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants to schedule the Individual and Group Assessments. Please note the following dates:

 Individual and Group Assessments - January 17 or January 24, 2015

Because admission to The Out-of-Door Academy’s Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs is based primarily on individual developmental readiness, the School recommends applicants for Pre-Kindergarten turn four (4) and applicants for Kindergarten turn five (5) by September 1 of their entry year.

Applicants for Grades 1-5 - After submitting the completed application materials, please call to schedule your child’s testing and classroom visitation date.

Applicants for Grades 6-12 - After submitting the completed application materials, please call to schedule a Student Shadow Day. .  Register to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) online at www.ssat.org. (Important: Indicate “The Out-of-Door Academy” as a score recipient to ensure that the score reports are received in a timely manner. SSAT registration instructions are located on the back of this form.) If the applicant has recently taken the ISEE, SAT, or PSAT, these test results may be considered in place of the SSAT scores.

. Decision Process – All completed applications (all required steps satisfied) are reviewed by the Admissions Committee to determine whether the student and the School are an appropriate match. Enrollment offers are made to students based on eligibility and availability in the respective grade level. Notification of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten decisions will be mailed on February 13, 2015. Notification of decision for Grades 1 through 12 will be mailed on March 13, 2015. Upon acceptance, students will be sent an acceptance packet and the enrollment agreement.

IMPORTANT DATES

October 18, November 15, December 12, January 10, February 7– Required SSAT dates for students who would like to be considered for the March 13, 2015, notification date.

January 17 or January 24, 2015 – Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten - Individual and Group Assessments.
