Directions: Read the following cartoons and, in the text box, identify the reference being used as an allusion. Also, explain how the allusion helps to illuminate the meaning or the comedy of the strip. Some references will have been covered by your classmates; others are common references in our culture.

Create an allusion of your own: You can either create a one panel cartoon, or a series of panels. If you do not feel artistic, then create two paragraphs to shape the passage to support a solid use of the allusion.
