EXPECTATIONS AND CLASS POLICIES FOR CPM MATH STUDENTS 2015-2016

1. Each student is responsible for doing all problems, while consulting with their team members. During the class period, you may NOT consult another team. If you need extra help, see me to schedule a session. I am happy to stay after school to assist you!

2. **You will need a scientific calculator.** (Be sure it has SIN, COS, TAN keys) One that is easy to use is: TI-30XII B or TI-30XII S

3. Behavior: a. Arrive to class on time. Take your seat quickly and quietly. b. Bellringer is to be started as soon as the bell rings. c. Have homework and green homework grade sheet out and ready to be checked by the teacher. With your team correct homework answers, then begin work on the class assignment. d. Ask questions of your teammates first. If all members of the team have the same question, ask the teacher for advice. e. You must be courteous and cooperative with me and with all other students in the class. f. Remain seated until dismissal bell rings. g. You are expected to act in a mature, responsible manner in the classroom.

4. Homework

a. Homework is checked at the beginning of the period. The green homework grade sheet will be stamped/signed. b. You are responsible for keeping the homework grade sheet. It will be collected at the end of each week. If you lose the sheet, the grade is a zero unless you bring in every assignment after school.

c. Work MUST be shown for credit – answers alone will not count! d. You will be responsible for correcting your own homework. e. Each assignment that is completed on time will be worth 4 points. Points will be deducted if every question is not attempted and reasonable work shown. f. Late homework – not accepted unless you have been absent. g. Sports events/Field trips - You are responsible for any work due the next day. This is not an absence that gives you extra days.

5. Class Participation Points are based on: a. Bringing all materials to class each day - Notebook with Textbook inside, Calculator, Pencil b. Completing bellringers on the green sheet – collected and graded weekly. c. Working with your team on the assignment. Do not hold discussions with another team. 6. Team Tests - One test is graded & all team members receive that grade. If you do not agree with your team, you may choose to have your test graded separately,.

7. Individual Tests -Students who have maintained a 75% or higher average on their homework may retake the Individual Test to improve their score. Retests are due within two weeks after the return of the test (unless the test is within 2 weeks of the end of the marking period). If the retest is higher, the two grades will be averaged. If the retest is lower, you will keep your original score.

8. IL Pages - assigned during IL time. They are due at the end of that period or the next day. They will be graded. Work must be shown or no credit will be given.

9. Grades a. If you have an excused absence, tests or quizzes must be made up within 2 days of return to school. If not completed in 2 days, you risk getting a zero for that quiz or test.

10. Extra Help - Teacher tutoring, National Honor Society tutoring, and review problems in the back of the text. Problems from all textbooks can be found on www.hotmath.com. Password = AFHLM1516
