1.4.3 Verification Samples: 1.4.3.1 For each finish product specified, two samples of each type of valve, actuator and accessory. 1.4.3.2 Identify each sample by label indicating applicable specification paragraph number, brand name and model number. 1.4.3.3 After approval, samples will be returned for incorporation into work.
1.4.4 Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
1.4.5 Closeout Submittals: 1.4.5.1 Warranty: Manufacturer's standard warranty document. 1.4.5.2 Operation and Maintenance Data: Operation and maintenance data for installed products. Include methods for maintaining installed products and precautions against cleaning materials and methods detrimental to finishes and performance.
1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1.5.1 Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with minimum ten years documented experience and ISO9001 Certified.
1.5.2 Installer Qualifications: Installer experienced in performing work of this section who has specialized in installation of work similar to that required for this project.
1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
1.6.1 Deliver products in manufacturer's unopened packaging, store and handle in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions.

2.2.4 Butterfly Valves (2 inches - 12 inches (51 - 305 mm): All thermoplastic, wafer-style butterfly with integral top mounting flange with dimensions and bolt circles conforming to ISO 5211. One piece body construction with fully-supported flange bolt holes and meets ANSI B16.10 narrow face-to-face dimensions in all sizes. Liner is a FULL BOOT design, retained in the body via rib and groove engagement. Liner serves as primary disc seal and face seals for mating flanges. Secondary upper bearing and lower seal retainer O-ring seals to be EPDM or FPM. Stem is 316 stainless steel, non-wetted with full engagement over length of disc. Stem has a position retention design. All sizes pressure rated to 150 PSI at 70 degrees non-shock. 2.2.6 Swing Check Valve: All thermoplastic with two-part body (assembled) design with integral pivoting swing arm/disc clapper assembly allowing for self alignment. Two-body design allows "seat" replacement and flapper reversal. Seats of bodies are tilted-disc design for better seating characteristics. Each body contains an integral ANSI 150 lb flanged end. Each body contains a drain port with plug. For close-assist option, a fully adjustable external counterweight design shall be used. 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
3.1.1 Verify that conditions are acceptable for product installation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
3.1.2 If preparation or conditions are the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding. 22 05 23-37 3.2 PREPARATION
3.2.1 Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.2.2 Inspect adjacent pipeline; remove rust, scale, welding slag or other foreign material.
3.2.3 Ensure that valve seats and pipe flange faces are free of dirt or surface irregularities that may disrupt flange seating and cause external leakage.
3.2.4 Inspect valve disc seating surfaces and waterway and eliminate dirt or foreign material.
3.3 INSTALLATION
3.3.1 Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
3.3.2 Valve Installation: 3.3.2.1 Do not use gaskets between pipe flanges and valves unless instructed otherwise by valve manufacturer. 3.3.2.2 Verify suitability of valve for application by inspection of identification tag. 3.3.2.3 Mount actuator onto valve prior to installation. 3.3.2.4 Handle valve with care so as to prevent damage to disc and seat faces. 3.3.2.5 Valves in horizontal pipelines should be installed with stem in horizontal position to minimize liner and seal wear. 3.3.2.6 Ensure that valves are centered between bolts before bolts are tightened and then opened and closed to ensure unobstructed disc movement. If interference occurs, due for example to pipe wall thickness, taper bore adjacent piping to remove interference. 3.3.2.7 Install butterfly valves with disc in almost closed position.
3.3.3 Actuator Installation: 3.3.3.1 Air hoses or electrical connections to be made by actuator manufacturer. 3.3.3.2 Cycle valve operation from fully closed to fully open, then back to fully closed. 3.3.3.3 At same time, check travel stop settings for proper disc alignment.
3.4 ADJUSTING
3.4.1 Check valve installation for proper alignment.
3.4.2 Turn valve fully open and closed 3 or 4 times to ensure smooth operation and proper seating.
22 05 23-38 3.4.3 Test and adjust relays, timers and counters for proper function.
3.5 PROTECTION
3.5.1 Protect installed products until completion of project.
3.5.2 Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
3.6 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
3.6.1 Site Tests, Inspection: Inspect completed assembly for proper locknut screw-in depth, after installation and prior to final acceptance. Report component damage to the Architect.
3.7 CLEANUP
3.7.1 Upon completion and verification of performance of installation, remove surplus materials, excess materials, rubbish, tools and equipment.
