CAREER OBJECTIVES

I believe my goal as a teacher in higher education is to facilitate my students’ learning so that they can meet the needs of diverse learners that they will impact throughout their career. Develop and implement a Motor Development Activity/ Program for P-12 students. Lead my department to the cutting edge of educational technology and instructional design. Supervise Student Teachers. Conduct research in the area of motor behavior for young children. Direct grants dealing with computer designed tutorial teacher preparation and in-service programs. NCATE/NASPE trained reviewer (spring 2006)

EDUCATION

LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY, Baton Rouge LA. Ph.D. degree. August 6th, 1992. Major in Kinesiology, with a minor in Special Education- Dissertation: The Effects of Prompting on Catching Proficiency of Mildly Retarded Children. During the 1986-87 school year I was the Louisiana Area Supervisor and Field Examiner for a motor test standardization project (TOMI) for the Psychological Corporation of San Antonio, TX.

UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-LACROSSE, LaCrosse, WI. MS degree in Physical Education, May 1982. Major in Physical Education for the Handicapped with a minor in Special Education. Taught and supervised in two federally funded motor programs for disabled populations: Motor Development/Recreation Program and the Adult Therapeutic Activity Program.

Lead this HBCU’s Physical Education department with over 100 majors in updating their curriculum to meet the needs of our students. Taught the teacher preparation classes, Adapted Physical Education, Fitness for Life courses and supervised our interns.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Department of Kinesiology & Health Science Stephen F. Austin State University August 2004 to May 2007 Taught upper level and graduate major courses: KIN 502- Technology in HPE KIN 487- Activities for Special Populations, KIN 349-Psychomotor Development and Movement Activities. Conduct research in educational technology and special populations. Technology Coordinator for the Kinesiology Department. Revised the Student teaching assessment form to meet NASPE’s standards for Physical Education Teachers. NASPE Trained Reviewer.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Program Coordinator Department of Physical Education & Health University of Wisconsin- Platteville August 2001 to May 2004 Coordinated the Physical Education & Health Program which has a fulltime faculty /staff of 6 and a part time staff of 7 instructors. Taught undergraduate/graduate physical education Phy. Ed. teacher preparation/ Adapted Physical Education courses with a disabled P-12 student labs component (860 Licensure courses); perceptual/ motor learning; supervised student teachers, and racquetball activity courses. Stabilized a program that had 3 Program Directors in 3 years prior to being hired at UW-P. Led the revitalization of that program’s 2 degree plans, which has seen enrollment increases of over 20% in the past 2 years. Member of the Graduate Faculty, Teacher Education and SoE By-Laws Committees. SW District Coordinator for state professional organization WAHPERD and Technology Editor for its professional journal.

Awarded the Palermo Endowed Professorship for the Burton College of Education (BCoE) Spring 1996; Departmental Technology Lab Grant ($19,000+) and College-wide- Fiber Optic Network Grant ($57,000+) awarded, Summer 1999. Member- BCoE Educational Technology Committee, university liaison and coordinator for SWLA Senior Games. ADAPTED PE EVALUATOR Glade School 3328 Highway 51 LaPlace, LA 70068 August 1991 to May 1995 Designed and implemented the Adapted PE service delivery system for the Glade School (enrollment 1500 -preschool -8th grade). Implemented an adapted golf and bowling programs at Riverlands Country Club, and Riverbend LanesTaught Adapted PE to approximately 40 Special Ed. students (15 integrated in regular PE setting) who qualify for Adapted PE instruction and provide consultation services for the 4 regular physical education teachers who instruct special education students at the Glade.

INSTRUCTOR Department of Health, Physical Education and Dance Southeastern Louisiana University Hammond, LA 70402 August 1988 to July 1991 Taught undergraduate/graduate physical education PE teacher preparation (motor learning and development, and Adapted PE certification courses; bowling, golf and disabled conditioning activities. ADAPTED PE SPECIALIST St. John School Board, Reserve LA 70084 August 1983 to May 1988 Designed and implemented the Adapted PE service delivery system for this parish (1983- 84 school year). Performed motor screenings and evaluations for the Pupil Appraisal Services of this parish. Taught Adapted PE to approximately 40 Special Ed. students who qualified for Adapted PE services.

ADAPTED PE SPECIALIST Orleans Parish School Board, New Orleans LA 70122 August 1982 to June 1983 Taught Adapted PE as an itinerant teacher for New Orleans Public Schools. Assisted the Pupil Appraisal Services in performing motor Screenings and evaluations and taught Adapted PE to approximately 60 students.
