Applicants must submit a complete scholarship packet with the following:
Completed Applicant Information (page 1).
Preliminary Requirements:
Applicant must be enrolled/enrolling in an accredited South Carolina school, institution, college or university and must provide proof of acceptance or current enrollment. Applicant must be well qualified, with a serious interest in pursuing a degree specific to international trade or related course of study. Applicant needs not be a full-time student. Females and males are invited to apply. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
Essay. Applicant must provide a 2 to 4 page, double-spaced essay on this topic:
Explain the impact that the South Carolina Inland Port Greer has had on manufacturing, economic growth, jobs, and the environment. In addition, evaluate the impact of a second inland port to be constructed in Dillon, SC. Explain whether South Carolina's inland port growth is sustainable, and whether you consider it to have a positive or negative impact on trade and ancillary industries in South Carolina. Set forth an analysis on how you believe such growth should be expanded, managed, or constricted. Provide supporting citations and data.
The essay is weighted 50% of the total score; scoring will focus on content, responsiveness to the topic, analytical capability, originality, grammar, spelling, and neatness.
Personal Statement. Explain why you believe you should be awarded this highly competitive scholarship. Information including, but not limited to, courses or work experience may be relevant to this response. Maximum length: one page, double-spaced.
Letter of recommendation: Applicant must provide a recommendation letter from a teacher, professor, or work place supervisor supporting your interest in international trade.
Official Transcript from Registrar’s Office: Applicant must provide an Official Transcript from the Registrar’s Office of grades (to include high school if entering college).
Resume: Applicant must provide a resume, CV, or list of work history with extracurricular, civic and community activities.
The scholarship is paid to the Financial Aid Department at the institute/university of selected applicant(s).
