Project Title: Documenting the Difference Phase II – Using the research to serve the BC Association of Family Resource Programs (FRP-BC) members

This past Spring, we conducted Phase I research project aimed at helping us better tell the story of family resource programs in BC. We collected data on family resource programs (FRPs) around the province—who they are, what they do, and who they serve. The research assistant will help us with Phase II of the project. In Phase II, we will try to bolster the existing research by collating program evaluation data, annual reports, and news stories from our members and the field to tell the story of the impact of British Columbia’s family resource programs. We will further create meaningful reports and graphics to communicate the research to our various stakeholders. Deliverables 1. In conjunction with the Research Director, finalize and utilize membership survey results 2. Discuss impact of the analysis of FRP services in BC with FRP-BC office team 3. Assess function of database development 4. Assess accessibility of the link of database to website and directory for all stakeholders 5. Report to Phase I participating programs to ensure accurate information capture 6. Collect and organize evaluation information from member organizations 7. Update directory from survey results 8. Disseminate findings, including creating publications and uploading to FRP-BC website

Requirements This position is partly funded by the Canada Summer Jobs position. Therefore applicants must: a) be between 15-30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; b) have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year; c) intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year’; d) be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP, vocational or technical program; e) be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and f) Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations. More information The 8 week contract will begin July 7, 2016 or sooner. The position is best suited to an undergraduate or Master’s degree student with a background in one or more of the following: communications, public administration, research methodology, database development and management, information management, graphic design, technical writing for social services, website refresh and design. Community development and strengths-based focus is an asset. The rate of pay is $12.50 per hour for a 35 hour week, ending August 27, 2016.
