Book Trailers with Photo Story guide sheet – trimmed down version!

1) Set up a folder and a place to store it (a drive or flash drive). Use your H Drive. It has your student ID number. This is where you will store your images, credits document, summary document, & music.

2) Create a Credits Document. * See Helpful Hints below

On it, include these three sentences: Images collected from Creative Commons Music from Purple Planet Book cover art from the :

3) Collect your images. Save each image into your book trailer folder Copy the author’s/creator’s name and the title. Paste this on the credits page. Here’s an example: Brandt Luke Zorn-Dogs playing.JPG.

To save a picture into your folder: RIGHT click onto it & choose Save Target As, or Save Picture As. Be certain that you Save In: your H drive, and then into your book trailer folder.

4) As you collect your images, make sure that you copy & paste the attribution information on your credits page. It keeps you legal, and helps you find the image again.

5) Locate and save your music. Be sure you get the attribution info for your credits page. Copy the whole title and the Composer/Publisher. Here’s an example: LICENCE TO THRILL-Pad (2:53)- www.purple-planet.com/

Sources for music: Purple Planet - http://www.purple-planet.com/ It’s easy to search. Choose a feeling or mood for your book, and search for that or a similar feeling. When you find something, listen to a Preview of it.

To save music into your folder: Once you have chosen your music AND copied the credits, choose to download a version of the music that is at least 60 seconds long. When the pop up opens, choose save, and be sure to save it into your H drive in your book trailer folder.

Purple Planet.com is an excellent source for copyright free music.

On this window click SAVE PROJECT (##) and choose a location to save. Save as: Book Title-AuthorName_YourName. Notice I left off the spaces in the names, but not the title. Save it to the desktop, and then drag Book Trailers with Photo Story guide sheet – trimmed down version! it/copy it to your h drive Book Trailer Folder. See your teacher for further instructions.

You are finished for now!!! Try to open up your Photostory and make sure it is all there and that it is saved.

Helpful Hints

*I like to have my phrases or sentences written on the credits document. Then I copy and paste them onto the images. You can do this with the credits, too!

**Adding your summary sentences: They can go either on the photo images or in between. If you need to have the text in between images, ask your teacher how you can do this. Be aware of the text font & color and test it to see if you can read it on top of the image.

***END CREDITS: Once you have added your sentences or phrases, it’s time for the end credits. First -restate the title & author of the book. Second - Book Trailer by Your Name. Next: Images collected from Creative Commons Then the credits for the five or more images you have. Next: Music from Purple Planet Credits for the music: title, composer/publisher Finally: Book cover art from: List the publisher of the book as the source for your book’s cover.

## Save the project as a movie. “Save to my computer” When you do this, save it first to your Desktop, THEN drag it into your H drive/book trailer folder. You must also drag it into the G drive, Drop Box Folder, Modrow folder, then the folder with your teacher’s name. Book Trailers with Photo Story guide sheet – trimmed down version!

UNDO!: You accidently deleted, cut, pasted, messed up, and you just want to travel back in time for a few seconds to how it was… Press Control and the letter Z and it will often undo what you just did. You can do it more than once, and it may take you back several mistakes…

To Copy – highlight/select Control C, or right click the mouse & choose copy.

To paste – Control V, or right click & paste.

To get rid of a hyperlink or to get the text changed to black print: Once you have pasted your text, there will be a clipboard icon to the lower right of it. Click on it & select “Keep Text Only”
