Nurse Practitioner Community of Practice (CoP)

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Purpose: To create a structure that allows nurse practitioners to regularly connect in person or via teleconference to promote best practice and build capacity in nurse practitioner practice in the Fraser Health Authority.

Membership: Regular: 1. All nurse practitioners employed by Fraser Health Authority 2. Executive Director and Chief Nursing Officer of Professional Practice and Ethics 3. Regional Manager Nursing & Allied Health, Professional Practice Office

Ex-officio NPs practicing in FHA who are not employed by FH.

Ad hoc: Other nurses or professionals as needed related to agenda items

Accountable to:

Executive Director and Chief Nursing Officer of Professional Practice and Ethics

Facilitator: NP/CNO co-chair Responsibilities: 1. Recruit and maintain membership of the CoP. 2. Organize the agenda for monthly meetings 3. Facilitating discussions about NP practice and other issues specific to the CoP.

Objectives: 1. To provide a forum for NP’s in FHA to discuss issues and exchange information related to an aspect of practice. 2. To create and or share documents that promote best practice, such as clinical practice guidelines, systematic reviews, Critically Appraised Topics (CATS), journal articles, etc. 3. To link with experts within FHA and outside the region. 4. To organize continuing education events that promotes best practices. 5. To build scholarly practice and research capacity. 6. To promote the role implementation of nurse practitioner within FHA and BC 7. Link with other NP Community of Practice groups in other health authorities to share expertise and experiences

Meetings: Monthly – third Thursday or at the call of the Chair
