Standing Rules adopted by the general membership at the July 16, 2008 meeting. Changes to the proposed Standing Rules that were printed in the June Brambles are underlined. CURRY COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS PROPOSED STANDNG RULES

1. The Curry County Master Gardner Chapter shall function on a calendar year.

2. A copy of the standing rules shall be kept with the bylaws. Amendments to standing rules may be made at any board meeting or general meeting by a majority vote with notice or two-thirds vote without notice.

3. General membership meetings shall be held on the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. No general meeting shall be held in August or December, unless such a meeting is deemed necessary. The site of the meetings can vary according to vote of the Board.

4. The December meeting is to be a special meeting to celebrate the holidays and to recognize special services rendered by the membership. This meeting will mark the transition to the newly elected board of directors.

5. Board meetings shall be held in conjunction with the general membership meetings to avoid unnecessary mileage.

6. Dues shall be $20 per member payable on January l and delinquent by March 1. Dues will not be prorated if paid after this date. Members not paying dues shall be dropped from membership April 1. The Treasurer shall send out dues notices. Associate members shall pay full dues.

7. There shall be two special funds set aside: The Les Ritchey fund to maintain the Ritchey Garden in front of the Extension building. The Mini College Fund for scholarships to Mini College.

8. There will be no separate bank accounts. All association funds shall be deposited in the association bank account.

9. Reimbursement for State Representatives for Quarterly meetings will be 30 cents a mile and $80 per day (motel room) reimbursement for trips over 150 miles. Reimbursement for meals will be a maximum of $50 per day.

10. The Chapter newsletter shall be published monthly. It shall be known as The Brambles. Copies of the Brambles shall be distributed to all members of the association by email if possible. Material for Brambles shall be submitted by the last Monday of the month. CCMG will provide a yearly subscription of the Brambles publication to any interested party in exchange for a donation of $10. 11. A copy of the minutes shall be published in the monthly Brambles.

12. Master Gardeners shall wear Master Gardener badges at all Master Gardener functions.

13. Travel time for approved volunteer activities will be counted toward volunteer hours.

14. Limits on spending. The Board of Directors may authorize expenditures not to exceed $150.00 for non budgeted items. The President may authorize expenditures not to exceed $50.00

15. The Treasurer may pay all routine or reoccurring bills for budgeted items without prior Board approval.

16. Each committee chairman may receive reimbursement for committee expenses up to $25.00 annually for non budgeted items, provided a statement with receipts is submitted to the Treasurer in a timely manner. All bills must be submitted within forty-five (45) days of the expenditure.

17. A committee of three appointed by the President shall audit the books of the organization annually.

18. The Budget committee shall include the President Elect and the incoming Treasurer as well as the outgoing President and Treasurer.

19. Riley Creek School, Gold Beach is a special interest project.

20. Kalmiopsis School, Brookings is a special interest project.

21. The roster containing name, address, email and phone numbers will be distributed to the membership. Roster information is to be used only for contacting members on CCMG business.

22. Recertification to retain active membership status (as stated in the Curry County Master Gardener Association Bylaws, Article III, Section 2) shall mean that a member will attend 6 hours of classes as defined in “A” or “B” below plus 15 service hours as defined in “C” below. A. The qualifying hours may be completed in total or in combination from the following sources: Core classes offered at OSU Extension Office Master Gardener Training Session for any Oregon county, core classes at OMGA Mini-College, OSU/OMGA certified classes, OSU/OMGA sponsored symposiums, other offerings approved by the CMGA board. B. In the absence of a Curry County Master Gardener Training Class the CCMGA will conduct a 6-hour class at least twice a year with several months separation between classes to allow for member planning. C. Opportunities for qualifying volunteer hours are: Plant clinic hours (OSU office, community events, local businesses, County Fair). CCMGA plant sale, committee membership, association meetings, board positions or board approved assignments relating to the OSU Extension Office’s community horticultural education efforts.

23: CCMGA Awards list and Criteria for Curry County

A. Behind the Scenes - A person that can always be counted upon, not asking for recognition or reward, actively promoting and supporting the program not necessarily an officer or chairman.

B. Educator-Master Gardener - Not part of the official MG training staff. A person giving classes or presentations to further the education of Master Gardeners, children, or the general public.

C. Gardener of the Year - Master Gardener who spends a good deal of time in preparing a garden for the garden tour or a garden for demonstration purposes.

D. Outstanding Class Mentor - A person who most actively attends class sessions and is most helpful in assisting with the class program.
