EXPRESSION OF INTEREST RELIEVING SUPPORT TEACHER OUT OF HOME CARE FLAMETREE COMPLEX (FIGTREE HIGH SCHOOL)

Expressions of interest are invited for the position of Relieving Support Teacher Out of Home Care, based at the Flametree Complex (Figtree High School), for the period 13 July to 18 September 2015, with the possibility of extension. (This position supports schools in the Illawarra area, from Helensburgh to Shellharbour).

BRIEF ROLE STATEMENT The role of the Support Teacher Out of Home Care (OoHC) is to assist students living in Out of Home Care, particularly those requiring additional support. This may include providing advice to schools, Learning and Engagement staff, carers and government and non-government agencies. It also involves coordinating support between schools and other agencies for students living in Out of Home Care, assisting with the development of Learning and Support/Individual Education Plans and processing and assisting schools in the preparation of Out of Home Care support applications.

POSITION CRITERIA  Understanding of the complex social and educational needs of students in Out of Home Care  The ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams  The ability to assist in the development of Learning and Support/Individual Education Plans  High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills  Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies  Ability to travel between worksites
