Main Scale Teacher Job Description This job description should be read in conjunction with the Teachers’ Standards and relevant elements of the School Teachers’ Pay and conditions document.

Core Purpose:  To model professionalism and integrity at all times  Have an understanding of what constitutes effective teaching and learning  To have an up to date working knowledge of the National Curriculum and other relevant legal requirements  To plan, teach and assess children’s work  Maintain a positive working relationship with pupils, colleagues, parents and the wider school community  Translate the vision and aims of the school into practical and manageable strategies  Ensure consistent practice and standards are achieved in the classroom  Secure the confidence of staff, governors and the parent body in the work of the school  Assist in securing the day to day discipline, administration and organisation of the school

Knowledge and skills required by all teachers Knowledge and Understanding Teachers should have knowledge and understanding of:- The policies and systems of the school Emergency procedures What constitutes quality in teaching and learning and how to measure it How to raise standards How to promote spiritual, cultural, social and moral education How to develop and promote citizenship The application of ICT in relation to pupil data and curriculum development The application of comparative data for bench marking purposes in the drive to raise standards How to utilise teaching styles to motivate staff, pupils, parents and governors The process of school self evaluation and how it supports continuous school improvement
