<p> Northcote Primary School</p><p>Main Scale Teacher Job Description This job description should be read in conjunction with the Teachers’ Standards and relevant elements of the School Teachers’ Pay and conditions document.</p><p>Core Purpose:  To model professionalism and integrity at all times  Have an understanding of what constitutes effective teaching and learning  To have an up to date working knowledge of the National Curriculum and other relevant legal requirements  To plan, teach and assess children’s work  Maintain a positive working relationship with pupils, colleagues, parents and the wider school community  Translate the vision and aims of the school into practical and manageable strategies  Ensure consistent practice and standards are achieved in the classroom  Secure the confidence of staff, governors and the parent body in the work of the school  Assist in securing the day to day discipline, administration and organisation of the school</p><p>Effective Teaching will result in schools where:-  There is a positive ethos  There is a commitment to high achievement and a love of learning  Staff, pupils, governors, parents and the wider community have confidence in the work of the school  All personnel contribute to the implementation of agreed policies and practices  Spiritual, social, cultural and moral development are actively supported and promoted  Effective links with the wider community contribute to pupils attainment and personal development Pupils who:  Make progress in relation to their prior attainment in all areas  Develop independence in their academic and personal development  Are well prepared for life beyond school  Are enthusiastic about learning and feel they can fully engage in the process  Develop effective personal and interpersonal skills  Are well rounded individuals who have a sound understanding of their strengths and areas of development Teachers who:  Have a secure understanding of what constitutes effective teaching and learning  Carry out the school policies consistently  Plan, assess and resource effectively  Have a belief in continuous improvement  Are highly motivated and enthusiastic about their role  Have the skills needed to resolve conflicts professionally and with integrity  Understand the need for rigorous monitoring and evaluation  Are fully supported by highly effective continuous professional development</p><p>Parents who:  Enjoy an effective partnership with the school  Contribute to their children’s learning  Understand and support the work of the school  Are kept fully informed about their children’s progress and achievements</p><p>Knowledge and skills required by all teachers Knowledge and Understanding Teachers should have knowledge and understanding of:- The policies and systems of the school Emergency procedures What constitutes quality in teaching and learning and how to measure it How to raise standards How to promote spiritual, cultural, social and moral education How to develop and promote citizenship The application of ICT in relation to pupil data and curriculum development The application of comparative data for bench marking purposes in the drive to raise standards How to utilise teaching styles to motivate staff, pupils, parents and governors The process of school self evaluation and how it supports continuous school improvement</p><p>Leadership Skills</p><p>The teacher should be able to use appropriate leadership skills in order to:- Prioritise, plan and organise Direct and co-ordinate the work of pupils, teaching assistants and parent helpers Work with and learn from high performing teams Work as part of a team Motivate and inspire pupils Set high standards and provide a role model for pupils Seek advice and support when necessary Deal sensitively with people and resolve conflict professionally</p><p>Decision Making Skills</p><p>Teachers should be able to:- Make decisions based on analysis, interpretation and understanding data Think creatively and imaginatively to anticipate and solve problems and identify opportunities Demonstrate good judgement Prioritise</p><p>Communication Skills</p><p>Teachers should be able to: Communicate effectively orally and in writing to a range of audiences Negotiate and consult Manage effective communication skills Demonstrate effective listening skills Self Management</p><p>Teachers should be able to:- Prioritise and manage their own time effectively Work under pressure and to agreed deadlines Take responsibility for their own professional development</p><p>Attributes</p><p>.
