WORLD
So far April of 2012 has been the most active, worldwide, in terms of 5.0+ magnitude earthquakes with a total of 186, and of those, 19 were of magnitude 6.0+, 3 of 7.0+, and 2 of 8.0+.
On April 11th, for the first time in recorded history, two 8.0+ magnitude earthquakes occurred on the very same day. An 8.4 and later on an 8.0 both occurred off the west coast of Northern Sumatra.

There were 48 recorded earthquakes, of which 7 measured in at 3.0+, and 1 measured in at 4.0+. The strongest earthquake of the month was a 4.1 magnitude that occurred on April 3rd in Kiowa, Oklahoma.
