CONGRATULATIONS FR. BARRENT PEASE!

FROM FR. DAN’S DESK… I know I join with all of our Parish Family in congratulating our Seminarian and Deacon – now Fr. Barrent Pease! By the time you read this, Barrent will have been Ordained a Priest of Jesus Christ by Bishop Mitchell Rozanski at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Springfield. Many of you took the parish bus to the Ordination and I know were moved by the experience. It is a great honor for any parish to have one of its own discern a vocation to religious life or the priesthood. We have been blessed with several Religious men and women who have discerned such a call over the 100 years of our existence as a parish, and Barrent is the most recent. We congratulate Barrent’s mom – Roberta Barron, as well as his grandmother Irene Barron, also a member of our parish! I know they are both very proud of Barrent! Barrent will celebrate his First Mass of Thanksgiving here at our parish this Sunday (June 11) at 2:00PM. All of our parish is invited to attend the Mass and/or to attend the Reception that will follow at approximately 3:30PM in our Parish Center. Light Refreshments will be served. It is traditional for a newly ordained priest to offer his First Priestly Blessing to anyone who would like to receive it, and so the Reception for Barrent will be an opportunity for any of you to greet Barrent and to wish him well, as well as receive his First Blessing. I’m very happy to say that Barrent will not be moving very far away from us. Bishop Rozanski has assigned him to St. Thomas Parish in West Springfield. St. Thomas is the largest parish in our Diocese with a large school, and so Barrent will be kept quite busy in his first priestly assignment at St. Thomas! I know Barrent appreciates the prayers of all of us in our parish during his time of his formation in the Seminary, and the discernment of his vocation. Your prayers have sustained him and helped him to reach this day with the blessing of God! I’m sure I speak for Barrent 0914 3 JUNE 11, 2017 THE MOST HOLY TRINITY in encouraging all of you to continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood and to speak to your children about the gift of a vocation in the Church! A PRAYER FOR ALL PRIESTS Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen. - USCCB.org
