The UCFC Coaches Information

It will be a great year. We have 110 teams, we have scheduled over 440 games – before the play offs. Thanks for your work with all the boys – good luck in 2010.

The schedules posted on the web site www.theucfc.com are the official schedules. We will do all we can to communicate any changes – please check these on a regular basis and direct your parents to the web site for schedules.

Schedules – Each team has 7 regular season games scheduled. We will be taking more teams to the play offs this year – the number is based on the number of teams in each division. Those who do not make the play offs will have an 8th game scheduled against another team in their division that didn’t make the play offs.

Rules Summary / Updates  Protect the center – Grades 1-3 – defenses may not use a nose guard directly over center, or a Linebacker directly over center on the line of scrimmage. Teams are allowed to line up players in the A gaps – but not slant them directly into the center.  Freeze punt – grades 1-5. A team must declare whether they will punt or not on 4th down. If they declare a punt – all players – both offense and defense must freeze until the ball is kicked.  Minimum play sheets – click here for a copy - must be maintained throughout the game. Each player who attends practice is guaranteed at least 10 plays during a game. The number of minimum plays increases if a team is ahead by 21 points at the end of each quarter. o Only non-starters need to be tracked o Field Representatives will check the play sheets at half time and collect the play sheets at the end of the game. o If a team does not maintain the play sheet during the game (coach is caught frantically checking off plays) the head coach will receive a warning. The warning will be reported to the conference. A second violation will result in a forfeit.  If you are ejected from the game by the referees – you will be suspended for a week.  Field representatives – Field reps will introduce themselves and check play sheets at half time and collect them at the end of the game. Please show the field reps respect.  Referees – Please be respectful to the referees – there will be high school students working some of the 1st – 6th games with a certified high school official  Referees – If you have concerns with the way referees have acted – based on interactions with coaches, parents etc – please send the complaint to [email protected]. These will be investigated. Please do not send email about calls that were made or were not made – these types of complaints will not be reviewed. We have told the referees to flag coaches who can not control them selves, as for parents – please control your parents. The referees do not want to punish the players as a result of parents actions, they will kick parents out if they can not control themselves.  Scores – Your scores will be posted to the web site weekly. The scores will be based on the scores on your minimum play sheet. Standings are automatically updated when scores are entered. If you have an issue with a score – please send an email to [email protected].  Game times – 1st – 7th grade games use a 16 minute running clock per quarter, 8th grade games are a 20 minute running clock.  Clean up – coaches, please take the time to clean up your sidelines after each game, please ask your parents to do the same – if we leave the fields a mess – we run the risk of losing use of the fields.  Turf Fields - If you are playing on the turf fields at PG High or Lehi High – nothing but water is allowed on the field, no food, Gatorade etc.
