[3676-2] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 12 NAME THE PORTION OF OLD ORANGEBURG ROAD IN 13 SUMMERVILLE FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH 14 BUTTERNUT ROAD WESTWARD TO ITS INTERSECTION 15 WITH WILLOW OAKS LANE “COACH PAT EIDSON WAY” 16 AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ALONG 17 THIS PORTION OF HIGHWAY CONTAINING THIS 18 DESIGNATION. 19 20 Whereas, members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn 21 that Pat Eidson, Pinewood Preparatory School boys basketball 22 head coach, recorded his 800th career victory when the Panthers 23 defeated Woodland High School 6052 on January 28, 2017; and 24 25 Whereas, Pat Eidson becomes the second coach in state history to 26 reach 800 career wins; and 27 28 Whereas, Eidson, in his twentyseventh season as Pinewood Prep 29 boys basketball coach, has won eight state titles during his 30 thirtyeightyear coaching career. Eidson picked up wins 300, 400, 31 500, 600, and 700 during his tenure at Pinewood Prep. His 700th 32 win came in the Rotary Roundball Classic during the 20112012 33 season; and 34 35 Whereas, the only other boys basketball coach in state history to 36 record at least 800 wins is John Smith, who retired from Great 37 Falls High School with 943 career victories. The 60yearold Eidson 38 shows no signs of letting up; and 39 40 Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to forever capture this 41 moment in history by naming a portion of Old Orangeburg Road in
[3676] 3 1 the Town of Summerville in honor of this coaching legend. Now, 2 therefore, 3 4 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 5 concurring: 6 7 That members of the General Assembly request the Department of 8 Transportation name the portion of Old Orangeburg Road in 9 Summerville from its intersection with Butternut Road westward 10 to its intersection with Willow Oaks Lane “Coach Pat Eidson 11 Way” and erect appropriate markers or signs along this portion of 12 highway containing this designation. 13 14 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 15 the Department of Transportation. 16 XX 17
