You prepare a table before me He leads me in right paths in the presence of my enemies; for his name’s sake. you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me Even though I walk through the darkest valley, all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long. The face of the Lord is against evildoers, Psalm 34 to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. I will bless the Lord at all times; When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, his praise shall continually be in my mouth. and rescues them from all their troubles. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, let the humble hear and be glad. and saves the crushed in spirit. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all. I sought the Lord, and he answered me, He keeps all their bones; and delivered me from all my fears. not one of them will be broken. The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Which of you desires life, and covets many days to enjoy good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. 528 (CBW) Father, We Give You Thanks

1. Father, we give you thanks who planted Your holy name within our hearts. Knowledge and faith and life immortal Jesus your Son to us imparts. Lord, you have made all for your pleasure, And giv’n us food for all our days, Giving in Christ the bread eternal; Yours is the pow’r, be yours the praise.

2. Watch o’er your Church, O Lord, in mercy, Save if from evil, guard it still, And in your love unite, perfect it, Cleanse and conform it to your will. As grain, once scattered on the hillsides, Was in the broken bread made one, So may your world wide Church be gathered Into your kingdom by your Son.

1. Hail our Saviour’s glorious body, Which his Virgin Mother bore; Hail the blood which, shed for sinners, Did a broken world restore; Hail the sacrament most holy, Flesh and blood of Christ adore!

2. To the Virgin, for our healing, How own Son the Father sends; From the Father’s love proceeding Sower, seed and word descends; Wondrous life of Word incarnate With his greatest wonder ends.

3. On the paschal evening see him With the chosen twelve recline, To the old law still obedient In its feast of love divine; Love divine the new law giving, Gives himself as bread and wine.

4. By his word the Word almighty Makes of bread his flesh indeed; Wine becomes his very lifeblood; Faith God’s loving Word must heed! Faith alone may safely guide us Where the senses cannot lead!

5. Come adore this wondrous presence; Bow to Christ, the source of grace! Here is kept the ancient promise Of God’s earthly dwelling place! Sight is blind before God’s glory, Faith alone may see his face.

6. Glory be to God the Father, Praise to his coequal Son, Adoration to the Spirit, Bond of Love in Godhead one! Blest be God by all creation Joyously while ages run.

1. Sweet Sacrament divine! Hid in Thine earthly home, Lo! ’round Thy lowly shrine, With suppliant hearts we come. Dear Lord, to Thee our voice we raise, In songs of love and heartfelt praise, Sweet Sacrament divine!

2. Sweet Sacrament of Peace! Dear Home of ev’ry heart, Where restless yearnings cease, And sorrows all depart. There in Thine ear, all trustfully, We tell our tale of misery, Sweet Sacrament of Peace!

3. Sweet Sacrament of Rest! Ark from the ocean’s roar, Within Thy shelter blest Soon may we reach the shore. Save us, for still the tempest raves; Save, lest we sink beneath the waves; Sweet Sacrament of Rest!

4. Sweet Sacrament divine! Earth’s Light and Jubilee, In Thy far depths doth shine Thy Godhead’s Majesty. Sweet Light, so shine on us, we pray, That earthly joys may fade away, Sweet Sacrament divine. From Westminster Hymnal

Refrain:

Bread of life, hope of the world, Jesus Christ, our brother: feed us now, give us life, lead us to one another.

As we proclaim your death, as we recall your life, We remember your promise to return again.

2. The bread we break and share was scattered once as grain; just as now it is gathered, make your people one.

3. We eat this living bread, we drink this saving cup: sign of hope in our broken world, source of lasting love.

4. Hold us in unity, in love for all to see, that the world may believe in you, God of all who live.

5. You are the bread of peace, you are the wine of joy, broken now for your people, poured in endless love.
