IT&IS Off-site access to a Managed PC

Please complete this form to request access to a supported PC from off-Campus.

Remote access to a College PC via the VPN presents additional security risks to the business, as lost or stolen credentials could lead to an attacker having direct access to College machines from anywhere.

As such Remote Access is subject approval from the IT&IS management team and empowered staff adhering to the following usage terms:

1. keep themselves reasonably informed about current security threats to their device(s), software or systems and engage in safe web-surfing habits;

2. own and maintain up-to-date and well supported anti-virus and other internet security software;

3. install critical (such as operating system) software patches as soon as they become available;

4. enable a personal firewall to protect themselves from being hacked;

5. consider full disk encryption as an option;

6. utilise other cryptographic (password) controls as appropriate;

7. regularly delete cached data;

8. do not respond to or enter data into unsolicited emails, texts, pop-ups, messages, surveys and other means of communication;

9. securely segregate their work/study from other users and according to the level of security required;

10. portable devices are not left unattended or confidential data left clearly on the screen in public areas;

11. locks and other physical security are utilised where feasible;

12. security incidents (such as loss or corruption of data),concerns or problems that might impact on Goldsmiths work or systems are reported to IT&IS and the relevant manager as soon as possible.

13. Highly confidential, financial or personal data should not be created, stored or processed on privately owned computers
