Albuquerque Garden Center Garden Guardians SUMMER DAY CAMP FIVE GREAT DAYS ONE GREAT SUMMER ENROLL NOW

Faster than a thundering rain storm! More powerful than an oak tree! Able to leap tall mountains in a single bound! Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the GARDEN GUARDIANS! Yes, it’s the Garden Guardians, strange visitors form another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal children. Guardians, who can change the times of neglected gardens, seed plants with their bare hands, and who, disguised as regular kids, fight a never-ending battle for growth, gardening and the Ecological way.

The 2017 Albuquerque Garden Center Summer Camp is almost here. Registration is now OPEN!

Come spend a week as a Garden Guardian and explore all aspects of how a garden works. Get the “Dirt on Dirt”, find out which critters and insects are “Super Pollinators”, what would happen “If Trees Could Talk”? and much more. Open to kids going into grades 1 through 6, our week-long day camp is sure to get kids minds pumping and bodies moving in our active, working urban garden.

Grades 1 and 2: Garden Gigglers will dig, plant, and harvest their way through the garden! We’ll plant seeds in the garden and to take home, create garden crafts and sing, make friends with bugs and creepy crawlies, play and learn - all within a safe garden environment. Gigglers will experience the garden through sight, sound, touch and smell. This is a wonderful first day-camp experience for young people.

Grades 3 and 4: Garden Protectors spend five, fun-filled days exploring the world inside, over, and below our garden. We'll learn about the intricate systems that allow our plants to flourish and experience this amazing world through hands-on learning and plant cultivation! We’ll select seeds to grow our favorite produce, and tend our plants diligently to bring a bountiful harvest. Guest speakers and live learning experiences will enrich minds through Super Pollinators and the Mighty Bees.

Grades 5 and 6: Garden Defenders discover the life forces that make our garden thrive! Our Defenders will explore each step needed to grow a healthy plant, and learn how soil composition, water and sun play an important role in the health of our garden! We’ll play with and examine lots of different types of flowers and plants and trees from all angles and discover things we've never noticed before! Using the latest high tech apps, we will count the trees in our garden and in our city, check their health and even plant a tree to be visited year after year.
