ABC/VNH Region Newsletter – October 2013 Page | 2 ABC/VNH Region Newsletter – October 2013 Page | 3 Calling High School Students: How would you like to meet people your age from across the nation who take their faith seriously and together backpack mountains, travel overseas and study theology – all in one month’s time – and then be mentored as you set the course for the rest of your life? That's what Compass is all about. Check it out by clicking on the COMPASS link below. Calling Pastors and Churches: Do you have high school students in your church who have a heart for God and take their faith seriously? Students who have potential for leadership and ministry? Students who would love to go on a month-long adventure including a backpacking expedition in the Adirondack Mountains, a theological expedition led by Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary professors and an overseas ministry expedition to Nicaragua, all for much less than the actual cost? Gordon-Conwell is seeking high school students to participate in their COMPASS program, an intense month-long summer experience that includes a wilderness expedition to the Adirondacks, classes with Gordon-Conwell faculty and a mission trip to Nicaragua. It is followed up by a three-year mentoring partnership. The program inspires high school students to pursue a life of Christian service and leadership. COMPASS participants testify that the program changed their lives and gave them a heart for ministry. Parents and pastors tell us that students are more centered and solid, more focused on others than themselves, have a more concrete sense of Christian calling and have made their faith more their own. More than 350 high school students have been impacted by COMPASS since the program began in 2001. Thanks to generous donors, every student receives a substantial scholarship and pays far less than the actual cost. COMPASS 2015 is happening June 24 – July 23. Click here to recommend high school students to us . Visit the COMPASS website or email COMPASS at [email protected] for more information.
