2 Welcome to the Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princess Program! We are excited to have you as a part of our upcoming Miss Arkansas Pageant to be held July 14th-20th, 2013 in Hot Springs. This year we are excited to have young women competing for the title of Miss Arkansas.

We are equally as excited that you have chosen to be a part of such an outstanding opportunity in our Princess Program. You will have many memorable experiences this summer. Who knows, we may have a future Miss Arkansas or Miss America in our group! The goal of this program is to continue to help young women across our state as the Miss America Pageant is the largest scholarship provider for women in the world. The Miss Arkansas Pageant proudly awards over $75,000 in scholarships and awards each summer.

The Diamond State Princess Program will again this year accompany the contestants on-stage during competition and at the arrival ceremony as well as other events throughout the Miss Arkansas week. We are also excited that our Diamond State Princesses will have an opportunity to spend time with our current Miss Arkansas Sloane Roberts. Sloane proudly represented our state at the Miss America Pageant and was the Miss Congeniality Winner. This is an incredible opportunity also for our princesses to meet an amazing young woman who has done so much for our state and the Miss Arkansas Pageant this past year. We look forward to seeing you this summer in Hot Springs!

Jessie Bennett Executive Director Miss Arkansas Pageant

Diamond State Princess General Information

4 The Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princess Program is for young ladies ages 5-12 (copy of birth certificate will be required) at the time of the state pageant on July 14th- July 20th at Summit Arena in Hot Springs, AR. Miss Arkansas competitions will be held Wednesday, July 17th, Thursday, July 18th, Friday, July 19th, and Saturday Night Finals, July 20th, 2013. The purpose of this program is to mentor those young ladies who have an interest in competing someday in the Miss Arkansas Pageant. The current Miss titleholders will serve as mentors to the Diamond State Princesses.

The pageant this summer will feature the Princesses as part of production number on Saturday evening with Sloane Roberts, Miss Arkansas 2013. The Princesses will also participate in the evening wear production with their Miss Queen/Mentor, as well as an onstage production number the evening of their Queens evening wear. The princesses are asked to wear their crown at all Miss Arkansas sponsored events. A complete working schedule will be forwarded to you once times have been finalized for all events and rehearsals.

The Princesses will be participating in a Community Service project during the week to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network. The Princesses will be presenting a check to the Miss Arkansas pageant during the pageant on Saturday evening. We are still working on finalizing the plans, and will let you know as soon as possible what the princesses will be doing.

Each Diamond State Princess is to provide her own white dress (long or short-age appropriate) for evening wear with their Miss Queen. Each princess group will be entertaining on stage depending on which evening their Miss contestant has evening wear. All princesses will be performing on Saturday night. The dance songs have not been determined at this time, however, you will be notified that a video has been placed on You Tube or Facebook page and you will be able to watch and help your princess learn as much of the dance as possible before they get to the Miss Arkansas pageant.

The girls are asked to wear a trendy outfit to dance with Miss Arkansas. Please take into consideration which shoes your child will be wearing for the dance. We ask that they are flat, comfortable shoes.

5 Rehearsals during the week are very casual; you will have a schedule of what t-shirt to wear to rehearsal, their performance shoes will be appropriate. The auditorium is cool during rehearsals, so some type of sweater or jacket would be advisable.

Girls desiring to be a Diamond State Princess and do not have a Miss representative are invited to participate and will be assigned to a contestant. Miss Arkansas Contestants will have an Arrival Ceremony, Sunday July 14th, at 2:00. There will be a Princess Crowning at 12:45 at the Hot Springs Convention Center Room 207.

Each Princess must submit a photo (color or black &white, no larger than a 5 X 7) for the program book. Please put your Princess’ name on the back of the photo exactly as it should be printed along with the local pageant title of her Miss Queen. The photo and all required forms and registration fee MUST be received by Saturday, May 10th, 2013 (no exceptions).

All Diamond State Princesses and their families are responsible for their housing and meals during the pageant activities in Hot Springs. Pageant headquarters hotel is the Austin Hotel and Convention Center at 305 Malvern Avenue, Hot Springs, AR, 71901.

Danny & Tommye Sue Barger, owners of You’ve Got the Look Photography in Jacksonville, will be with us during the Miss Pageant Week Activities, including all Diamond State Princess events. They will be making available to you order forms for one of their Memory Books featuring the Diamond State Princess and each of the girls. Contact information for Danny & Tommye Sue is 501-982-7665 or email [email protected] or visit their website at www.youvegotthelook.com .
