Installing and Upgrading KNM 4.1

Installing and Upgrading KNM 4.1 There are two installer versions of KNM 4.1; a standalone version (knmsetup.exe) that does not integrate with the VSA and an integrated version (knminstall.exe) that does include the integration with the VSA. The integrated version of the installer installs the VSA add-on modules and silently installs the standalone KNM 4.1.

Installing KNM 4.1 if there is no instance of KNM installed Run the integrated knmsetup.exe installer. KNM 4.1 will be placed in the directory C:\kaseya\KNM

Moving a current instance of KNM on the same server to enable VSA integration If you plan on using the Service Desk integration with KNM 4.1; KNM 4.1 must reside in the location C:\Kaseya\KNM. The integrated 4.1 installer (KNMSetup.exe) will install KNM in that subdirectory. If you have a previously installed version of KNM; follow these instructions to move your KNM directory to C:\Kaseya\KNM to upgrade.

1.Stop the Kaseya Network monitor service using the Service control manager 2.Uninstall the KNM service from a command prompt in the KNM directory executing nmservice.exe -u 3.Move the previous ..\KNM directory to C:\kaseya\knm if it is not already there 4.a) Open regedit.exe and navigate to following registry key  64 bit windows HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Kaseya\KNM  32 bit windows HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Kaseya\KNM b) Change the registry key INSTALL_DIRECTORY to the new location of KNM (default c:\kaseya\knm). 1.Install KNM 4.1 (knmsetup.exe) to upgrade the just moved KNM 4.0 installation via http://download.kaseya.com/components/knm/v4.1.0.0/knmsetup.exe 1.Stop the Kaseya Network monitor service using the Service control manager 1.Run the integrated (knminstall.exe) installer; this installs the VSA add-on module http://download.kaseya.com/components/knm/v4.1.0.0/knminstall.exe

Moving and installed instance of KNM to a VSA Server from a different host KNM 4.1 must reside in the same directory path as your VSA installation. If you need to move your current KNM installation to your VSA server; follow these instructions: How to move KNM to a new host machine.

Upgrading a standalone KNM 4.0 installation to a standalone KNM 4.1 using the standalone installer knmsetup.exe: 1.Stop the Kaseya Network monitor service using the Service control manager 1.Run the standalone installer (knmsetup.exe) and the current directory of your KNM 4.0 instance will be upgraded in the same (current KNM) directory; there is no option to change destination directory.
