IT&S Manager, Revenue Cycle Systems

Shari Back is currently the IT&S Manager for Revenue Cycle Systems. In this role, she has primary responsibility for Cerner Invision Patient Management and Patient Accounting (formerly Siemens and SMS). In addition, Shari works closely with related Revenue Cycle Systems including coding, HIM EMR, scheduling and business office claims processing and EDI. She is responsible for the day to day operations as well as coordinating projects and planning from both an enterprise and local perspective. She reports directly to Maureen Dunn, IT&S Director for Revenue Cycle Systems.

Ms. Back has been with Barnabas Health since 1998. She began her career in the system as a Project Lead for the Corporate Clinical Systems group. She moved to Union Hospital in 1999 to support Y2K efforts. During that time, she implemented the 3M coding system, a nursing acuity system and supported the install and testing of Invision. In 2000, Ms. Back moved to the Invision Application group as a Project Lead and was promoted to Manager in 2001. Ms. Back has been closely involved in assessment and implementation of the HIPAA Transaction and Code Sets, the installation of the MedAssets suite of Applications and ICD10 implementation and testing across revenue cycle systems. Current projects include the roll-out of the RWJBH enterprise scheduling and NJHealthCAP, to name a few.

Prior to joining Barnabas Health, Ms. Back was a Member of Technical Staff and Project Lead at GE Aerospace in East Windsor, NJ for 5 years. She began her career as an Associate Member of Technical staff working as a software engineer specializing in satellite flight software test systems. Ms. Back also has past experience in product selection and implementation of physician practice management systems and teaching computer classes in a number of settings including Brookdale Community College.

Ms. Back is a graduate of Tulane University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She also holds an MBA with a concentration in Technology Management and holds the HIMSS CPHIMS certification since 2012. Ms. Back is a member of HIMSS, a committee chair for the New Jersey Cerner User Group (formerly Siemens/SMS) and is an active member and past committee chair in the NJ DOBI Task Force.

Ms. Back resides in Manalapan with her husband Norman and has 3 children.
