    British Canoeing – Canoe Slalom International Panel – 2020 Tokyo Olympic Team Selection Nominations to British Olympic Association for Canoe Slalom Following the completion of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships at La Seu D’Urgell, the following nominations will be made to the British Olympic Association for ratification to Team GB for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The announcement of the Canoe Slalom members of Team GB will be made by the British Olympic Association on 10th October 2019: MK1 WK1 MC1 WC1 Bradley Forbes-Cryans Kimberley Woods Adam Burgess Mallory Franklin Reserve Reserve Reserve Reserve Joseph Clarke Fiona Pennie David Florence Kimberley Woods All selections are subject to written confirmation from ICF that Great Britain has qualified an athlete quota place in each event at the 2019 World Championships and subject to appeals and ratification by the British Olympic Association. Juni 2017 Erneut Gold, Silber und Bronze auf dem Eiskanal Auch am zweiten Finaltag des zweiten Weltcups der Saison haben die deutschen Slalomkanuten auf dem heimischen Eiskanal in Augsburg einen kompletten Medaillensatz abgeräumt und damit einen erfolgreiches erstes Heimspiel absolviert. Zunächst gewann Gesamtweltcup-Titelverteidigerin Ricarda Funk (Bad Kreuznach) das Rennen der Damen im Kajak-Einer trotz zweier Strafsekunden für eine Torstabberührung im mittleren Teil der Strecke. „Es war ein megacooles Gefühl“, beschrieb Ricarda Funk ihren Finallauf, in den sie als Halbfinalschnellste als letzte der zehn Damen gestartet war. „Wenn man Fans und Freunde am Rand hört, wie sie einen anfeuern und dich runterschreien – einfach megacool. Und wenn man dann noch ins Ziel kommt und sieht, dass man Erste ist – unbeschreiblich. Ein Heimspiel ist nicht immer ein Vorteil, wenn man die Strecke gut kennt, denkt man auch mehr darüber nach, was passieren kann. Aber natürlich werde ich versuchen, das zu meinem Vorteil auszunutzen“, blickt sie auf das dritte Rennen kommendes Wochenende in Markkleeberg voraus. Silber gewann heute die Slowakin Jana Dukatova, Bronze ging an die Slowenin Ursa Kragelj. Jasmin Schornberg (Hamm) paddelte im Finaldurchgang auf den sechsten Platz. Caroline Trompeter (Hanau) und Lisa Fritsche (Halle/S.) belegten die Ränge 14 und 25. Gleich zwei deutsche Medaillen gab es zum Abschluss im Canadier-Einer der Herren. Hinter dem siegreichen Slowaken Matej Benus belegten der Augsburger Lokalmatador Sideris Tasiadis und Franz Anton (Leipzig) den Silber- und Bronzerang. „Mich ärgern die Strafsekunden am drittletzten Tor, aber das sehe ich sportlich“, meinte Sideris Tasiadis, „jetzt stehe ich im Gesamtweltcup ganz gut da, punktgleich mit dem heutigen Sieger, darüber bin ich sehr glücklich.“ Auch Franz Anton war mit Bronze sehr zufrieden: „Ich hatte einen Fehler und bin dennoch zufrieden, weil ich danach ziemlich ruhig geblieben bin und noch ziemlich viel rausgeholt habe.

Great Britain gained hard earnt Olympic quotas in each Olympic category and we have selected a fantastic team to represent our sport next year in Tokyo. I'd like to pay tribute to all the athletes who have been incredible this year and wish the Olympic team every success out in Tokyo.
