The Festivals Ayudha Pooja is an integral part of the Navaratri Festival / Golu Festival (festival of triumph). The legend of the festival is for killing the demon king Mahishasura by goddess Durga. Navaratri festival is observed all over the country but in South Indian states, where it is widely celebrated as Ayudha Puja, there are variations of worship procedure. The Pooja is considered a meaningful custom, which focuses specific attention to one’s profession and its related tools and connotes that a divine force is working behind it to perform well and for getting the proper reward. The tools and all implements of vocation are first cleaned. All the tools, machines, vehicles and other devices are then painted or well polished after which they are decorated with turmeric paste, sandalwood and kumkum. Worship of computers and typewriters also during the Ayudha Puja, in the same manner as practiced in the past for weapons of warfare. Books and musical instruments are also placed on the pedestal for worship. Another type of worship is the Golu, arranging the dolls, predominantly that of the Gods and Goddesses from Hindu Tradition are artistically arranged on the stepped wooden platform. On 5th October we celebrated this festival in our learning center. The teaching equipments, books, equipments are arranged well, the vehicles are washed and decorated. The building is decorated with colour paper. The staff are honored with sweets, stuffed rice and fruits. All the staff are provided with the new dress. 24th October, the festival of lights “Diwali” is celebrated with the children with great joy, bursting crackers and lighting the colorful fireworks. All the children are enjoyed the happy moments. The children are provided with the special food. Parents Meeting 1st October, 24 parents actively participated in the parents meeting. The parents are asked about the fitness of the uniforms of their children. The parents are repeatedly requested to keep hygene environment, uniform maintenance, cheppal maintenance. The achievement of Parameswari that walking pattern & speed improved much. Praveenkumar memorize 24 line poem. The Managing Trustee conducted the individual discussion with the parents regarding the 3 years progression of their child. The Self Help Group meeting conducted on the same day. The parents are provided with the information that if we received any matching grand we provided the information that anybody interested in dairy development means they can get loan and develop a small dairy unit. They can supply the needed milk for our Learning Center and they can sell the rest. Abishegapriyan’s mother requested for the loan. She provided the information that she know candle making, she likes to start a small candle making unit. The raw materials suppliers for the candle making assured the buy back. Ajay Guru’s parents are irregular to pay the monthly subscription of the self help group. The mother is informed to regularize the premium. 18 children 1. Ranjani, 2. Velmurugan, 3. Sudhagaran, 4. Purushothaman and 18. Periaswamy are provided with the additional nutritional supplement food Horlicks. The under fed children are provided with the milk support. The children are provided the milk expenses during their stay in their houses. The children are 1. Gowtham, 2. Kalaiselvi, 3. Karthik, 4. Abishegapriyan, 5. Vinitha, 6. Praveenkumar and 7. Parameswari. The recurring deposit for the poor children future plan monthly installment paid for 1. Gowtham, 2. Kalaiselvi, 3. Parameswari, 4. Vinitha, 5. Praveenkumar and 6. Abishegapriyan. Staff Meeting In the staff meeting we were discussed about the 3 years children development assessment. Building recognition renewal procedures, practice for the participation in the state level differently abled persons competition and the three months evaluation report. This month the learning center has additional holidays, so these holidays are utilized for the field home visit. The staff went to the children’s home to assess their home activities during the holidays. Staff Appointment On 12th October Mrs. Mageswari W/o Mr. Samraj, with educational qualification of Higher Secondary Schooling, Residing in Naid Street, Avalurpet, having the experience as a clerical staff in Sharadha Vidyala is appointed in our Learning Center. Mr. M. Venkatesan, studied up to 12th Standard with professional driving license residing in Reddiyar Street, Avalurpet appointed as a driver from 3rd October. Health Attention Manopriya parents took her to Walaja (a place for ancient traditional treatment for jaundice) on 3rd October for the traditional treatment for Jaundice. John Milton parents referred to CMC Hospital, Vellore. The went to the hospital on 4th October to receive the gaiter and treatment for the epileptic convulsion. Arjunan got mild fever on 10th October, for which he is provided with Paracetomol tablets, during the observation he got cured. Velmurugan & Ajai Guru has the complaints of Cold and Coughing on 14th & 18 October for which the needed medicines provided and he is recovered well. Children’s Ortho equipments repair works done. The equipments straps and minor repair works completed on 31st October. Local Contribution Mr. M. Balamurugan, Cable Operator, living in 6/68 Nainar Street, Avalurpet is visited on 13th October and assured that every month one day he assured to provide the mid time meals for the children. Mr. Aborar from Muslim Street, Avalurpet provide Biscuit 1 Pack, Sweet 3 Box and Snacks 2 Packs on 28th October. Mr. P.L. Subramaniam (our project stewart & convener Mr. Ramanathan’s father) contributed Rs. 25,000/- Mrs. Sumathi Viswanathan contributed Rs. 1,000/- to provide the mid time meals for the Diwali celebration. Mrs.V.S.Srividhya Rs. 10,000/- contributed by Niece of Mr. Bhaskar (project co-ordinator) from Bangalore. Shanthi’s parent paid Rs. 250/- on 1st October for the maintenance and the vehicle running expenses for the month of August. Manigandan’s parents contributed Rs. 600/- for the vehicle running expenses for August and September. Ranjani & Sharmila parents are contributed on 24th October Rs. 250/- each for the vehicle running expenses to pick their children. Deepak’s family members provided 6 liters of kerosene for the cooking purpose on 28th October. Abishegapriyan’s parents paid Rs. 900/- on 31st October to compensate the vehicle running expenses for three months. Repair & Maintenance On 11th of this month the kitchen lightings is made, the periodical maintenance of the inventor made on 21st October. Van oil service work has been done this month. Long Absentees Shalini got affected with fever followed by Chicken Pox, so she is not attended our learning center for 11 days. Manopriya is absent for 9 days due to the Jaundice treatment in Walaja. Due to the local body election R. Manigandan is absent for 8 days. Praveenkumar is absent for 7 days due to his uncle’s daughter unexpected death. By: P. Ravi, Managing Trustee .
