2 FIND OUT HOW In three weeks since it was launched, the Doing Good Does Good – Feeding the World with JBS IS Solidarity program of JBS kicked off the action plan to support the CONTRIBUTING combat of Covid-19 in Brazil. TO BRAZIL The program, launched on May 11, will allocate R$ 400 million in funds to combat the pandemic in Brazil. Of this total, R$ 320 million were earmarked to meet the most urgent needs of the localities mapped involving 18 state governments, the FGD (Federal District) and 197 Brazilian municipalities benefiting more than 63 million people.

Under the coordination of Joanita Maestri Karoleski, former CEO of Seara, 30 team members are exclusively dedicated to the program. In addition to the financial resources, JBS has also contributed with its asset structure and professionals in the Supplies, Logistics, Legal, Compliance, Fiscal Engineering, Human Resources and Finance fields. In addition, consultants Tyno and Grant Thornton have waived their fees and are supporting the program in the administrative and donation auditing areas, respectively.

The donations are being converted into goods or services depending on regional demands.

“Brazil has very specific situations and needs across its various regions, and we are organizing the allocation of the resources according to the requests from states and municipalities, but always focused on healthcare, social assistance and science,” Joanita explained.

Return to index 3 In addition to the exclusive team and the support of the different areas of JBS, a team of 130 of the Company’s professionals worked on mapping the regional demands together with over 200 local governments. This study involved diagnosing the local healthcare system, an analysis of how the virus is being propagated and how the JBS Doing Good Does Good Program could contribute to the healthcare and social assistance systems in support of the fight against the pandemic.

In possession of the demands and based on the assumptions established by the independent committee, the investment decisions were drawn up to ensure that help gets to those who need it most as quickly as possible.

The criteria adopted by Doing Good Does Good are supported by cross-checking data between the information collated from municipalities and states and a robust data base made available by the Albert Einstein, HCor, Sírio-Libanês hospitals and by Bionexo. This data base has consolidated on a single platform the registrations of cases of the disease, the number of deaths, the trend curve, geolocalization and local infrastructure.

Return 4 to index A portfolio was also defined, consisting of inputs, hospital equipment, medications, and other essential items for combatting the pandemic.

TAll these decisions were taken unanimously in the Consultative, Scientific and Social Committee, in the same manner as the definitions for donating to scientific research projects or to not-for-profit social organizations were taken in the scientific and social committees, respectively.

Return 10 to index EMERGENCY RESPONSE

The emergency response initiatives include sending hospital individual protective equipment (IPE) essential for ensuring the safety of the teams in the from line of the fight against the virus; and food baskets, given the dire emergency social and food situation caused by the pandemic to the income of more vulnerable families.

405,772 food baskets worth R$ 23.5 million have been purchased so far. The Company has also contributed by donating foodstuffs it produces, including providing meals to medical teams. Donations of JBS products already amount to R$4.8 million, equivalent to 200 tons of protein.

The JBS Supplies department has a team dedicated to procuring and delivering all the items requested and negotiated, which will be sent to over 300 hospitals and health centers served by the company’s donations program.

Return to index 11 “Organizing the various fronts so that the donations get to all corners of Brazil has been a complex but gratifying task. The capillarity and the ability to go so far that we have here at JBS are key assets in enabling us to make a difference so that help gets quickly to those who need it.” points out Jerson Nascimento, Supply director at JBS in South America.

Return 12 to index PUBLIC HEALTH

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was one of the main demands received by the program. Up until now, 15,845 million PPE units have been purchased for 150 cities, an investment of R$ 52.1 million. Products include aprons (impermeable and nonwoven fabric), surgical gloves, vinyl medical gloves, impermeable scrubs, surgical masks, N95 masks or PFF2s, disposable foot covers, facial protection/visors and surgical head covers.

Return to index 13 Unlike campaign hospitals, modular hospitals will be permanent assets that will serve the population even after the end of the covid-19 pandemic. One of the premises for releasing the project is to demonstrate the state’s management capability, so that the service is maintained. The option to build modular hospitals as an annex to institutions that already exist leverages the entire structure, increasing the capacity to provide assistance and service.

In general, the lack of equipment to provide treatment for the most severe cases of Covid-19 is one of the main problems in states and cities canvassed by JBS. To meet the demand, the Company has so far invested R$ 72.9 million in the acquisition of hospital equipment.

Among the most requested items are multiparameter monitors, one of the main hospital items of equipment for life support. More commonly known as vital signs monitors, these devices show medical teams, in real time, the health conditions of the patient. This allows doctors to make quick and assertive treatment decisions.

Besides heart rate, multiparameter monitors measure the patient’s respiratory rate and oximetry – the quantity of oxygen in the blood. Up until now, JBS has allocated R$ 26.6 million for the acquisition of these devices, to be delivered to 14 states of all regions in the country.

Another highly requested item are infusion pumps, used to administer intravenous medication, like sedatives. 460 pumps were acquired whose use in the ICU is important because it allows the prescribed dosage to be precisely administered. The investment in these devices amounts to R$ 6.9 million.

Completing the requests list are secretion suction machines, clinical beds, ICU beds, defibrillators, gurneys, oximeters, digital

Return 14 to index thermometers, stethoscopes, CT scanners, x-ray machines, portable ultrasound machines and ECG machines with trolleys. The company is also providing 47 ambulances.

Beside the machines, JBS will deliver complete ICU and infirmary clinical beds. The former consists of infusion pumps, multiparameter monitors, monitoring hubs, beds with mattress, ventilators, and defibrillators. The clinical beds will have mattresses, gurneys with mattresses, multiparameter monitors, ECG machines, trolleys with trays for defibrillators and thermometers.509 beds have been purchased so far, including both types, worth R$ 53.6 million.

One type of input has been particularly useful in the response of public health and social emergencies: hygiene and cleaning products. Donated to both underprivileged families and hospitals, these materials help prevent the dissemination of the coronavirus. More than 400 thousand bottles of isopropyl alcohol, gel alcohol, bleach, liquid soap, and disinfectant for hospitals are being acquired by JBS for donation.

We will also donate 407 thousand fabric masks for 18 cities, encouraging the population to follow the rules when fighting the disease and contributing to the local economy, since in respect of this the company has chosen to work with local suppliers from the regions where assistance is being provided.

In line with the necessities of the localities consulted, the help provided by JBS is not restricted to material items. The Company has donated to the state of Sao Paulo, for example, the services of 40 pulmonary physiotherapists who will assist patients at the Hospital das Clinicas of the University of Sao Paulo Medical School (FMUSP). The physiotherapists are responsible for monitoring and operating the ventilators, which are fundamental devices in severe cases of infection by the new coronavirus

The cost of hiring these professionals was paid for by JBS, and they will work at the Central Institute (ICHC), which exclusively admits patients

Return to index 15 who have tested positive for Covid-19. The largest public hospital in Latin America, the USP Hospital das Clinicas has built an exclusive unit for treating infected people, with 900 beds, 300 of which are for the ICU. In May, the institute reached the milestone of 1000 discharged patients.

Another example: JBS has chartered a plane to bring to Brazil equipment and medication from China to another capital in the South East.

In Salvador (BA), the Company will donate to cover the costs for part of the construction of the second tent of the city’s campaign hospital. The structure will have 100 beds to admit patients who have tested positive for Covid-19.

JBS also pledged R$ 1 million in the renovation of a new ICU wing at the Santa Casa de Lins Hospital Association, in the interior of Sao Paulo’s. The hospital will receive 30 new beds, furniture, new bed sheets, and towels, among other items.

Also worthy of note is the JBS initiative in . At , the Company will invest R$ 140 thousand in the renovation of the Undernourished Children’s Recovery Center, known as Centrinho, aimed at treating indigenous children. Maintained by the Caiua Evangelical Mission, the hospital currently has 74 beds certified by the Single Health System (SUS), to assist in the areas of clinical medicine, obstetrics, and pediatrics. Another R$ 60 thousand will be donated for the acquisition of hospital equipment for the institution.
