Their musical gumbo is as unique as their name, drawing roots from all styles of American music. The band's influences are: Jump/Swing, Tex-Mex, Country, Pop and Blues. The "Pigs" as their fans know them are considered "The most versatile band in the land"and play in excess of 200 shows a year coast to coast and overseas. They have released seven full length CD's to date, which are available worldwide. Their newest CD "Pigs At the Zoo" is the soundtrack from the PBS series "Backstage Pass". In the course of their recording history "The Pigs" have played host to a variety of noted guest musicians including Grammy award winning fiddle player Michael Doucet, former James Gang leader and current Eagle, Joe Walsh, Dave Alvin of The Blasters and X fame, Mojo Nixon, Singer/ Songwriting legend Chris Gaffney, Guitar wizard Evan Johns and countless other world class musicians always ready to join in on a "Pig's" recording session. This band has also been featured on several movie and TV soundtracks including MTV and the offbeat hit Red Rock West. However, the main attraction is of course, the live show. A live performance from the "Pigs" can be both rip-roaring and heartfelt at the same time.

It’s not a greatest hits – it’s simply a collec- tion of some of Billy’s Bacon’s notables that he has handpicked from his eight previous records, and some of the fan favorites that he has performed over the past 20 years. So this year he and his band set out to celebrate the endurance and commitment they’ve made over those years to spread their Texmex-blues-abilly gospel to people everywhere. Against today’s vapid pop-music industry, The Pigs (as their fans know them) are a true cultural shakeup with their unrelenting individualism. But regardless of their knack to stand out (and even though The Pigs have toured relentlessly over the years) they unfortunately still remain under the radar. As the cover story of 3rd Coast Magazine’s April 2004 issue explains “…if you want poster children for neglected road warriors, you could hardly do better than Billy Bacon & the Forbidden Pigs. The trio tours virtually non-stop, playing to capacity crowds, but you rarely come across any mention of them…” Maybe that’s why Billy Bacon has been underappreciated.

  • Bio Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore Downey to Lubbock Biography written by: Joe Nick Patoski Downey, California to Lubbock, Texas is a thousand-mile straight shot across the heart of the American West, with not much in between. The cities at each end of the line are one-time cowtowns that grew into symmetrically-platted working-class communities with very little to interrupt the horizon plane, making for big empty canvasses that require a vivid imagination to fill in all that blank space. Dave Alvin from Downey and Jimmie Dale Gilmore from Lubbock have been filling canvasses with music of the American West for decades, coming from two very different directions. The title track explains Alvin is a Strat-packing, wild blues Blaster, a nod to the roots rock band he formed with his brother Phil in 1978 before Dave peeled off to go his own way in 1986. He’s been part of the bands X, the Knitters, and the Flesh Eaters, tours relentlessly with his own band, the Guilty Ones, and continues apace on musical quests informed by his love of California and its history, and by Texas and the South, where most of the great music that was made in Los Angeles before and after the Second World War came from. Gilmore is the old Flatlander from the Great High Plains, acknowledging his first group, the folk-country trio formed in Lubbock 1972 with Joe Ely and Butch Hancock who continue performing and recording today. In addition to the Flatlanders and an extended solo career, he has been part of several ensembles including the Hub City Movers and The Wronglers with Warren Hellman, who started the Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco.

  • The Paladins Are Celebrating in 2017! 36 Years As a Band & a BRAND NEW RECORD
The Paladins are celebrating in 2017! 36 years as a band & A BRAND NEW RECORD - The Paladins will release a new 11 song album of originals titled “New World” on April 16, 2017 on Lux Records! It will be available on CD and on colored vinyl, just in time for Record Store Day! This collection was created & recorded at Thomas Yearsley’s Thunderbird Analog Recording Studio in Oceanside, CA – both locations: the original 8 Track & the new 24 Track studio. In addition to the traditional “House Rockin’ Blues” sound of The Paladins, this new record encompasses sincere geo-social lyrical reflection as well as killer instrumental composition. The lead track, “New World” was composed by Dave Gonzalez and Jeb Schoonover & contemplates a vision of a world that is changing. Keep in mind, that throughout their career, The Paladins have had the liberty to cross many international borders, in peace, as artists, & travel almost anywhere. For that freedom, we are deeply grateful. The 2nd song, “Waterman”, is wrought with frustration & the tug of war between the Earth & her profiteers. Next, a familiar theme of romantic love & a lively Boogaloo beat steers track 3, “Things Keep Changin’”, back into the pocket of what the faithful come to expect from our tribal roar. Rock & roll, surf & turf country, & traditional blues are all represented from the Pals on this record. The songs also feature the immeasurable talent of Leo Dombecki on piano / organ, the genius of Laura Chavez on guitar & Laura Jane Willcock on backing vocals. The band will be touring Europe and the US throughout 2017, in support of “New World”, their first new Paladins record in 14 years.

  • Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist Rick Shea's Love & Desperation Puts A
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 20, 2020 SINGER-SONGWRITER-GUITARIST RICK SHEA’S LOVE & DESPERATION PUTS A HOMEGROWN SPIN ON AMERICANA Veteran Musician’s Inventive Release, Arriving Oct. 23, Literally Brings the Recording Process Back Home For a Diverse Collection of Roots-Based Originals LOS ANGELES — If Rick Shea’s new record Love & Desperation had a motto, it would likely be, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” The Southern California Americana artist’s 12th album -- due from Anaheim, CA-based Tres Pescadores Records on Oct. 23 as a physical and digital release -- is the product of unique recordings sessions that were the product of the unique challenges facing musicians in the year 2020. Singer-songwriter-guitarist Shea is of course no stranger to the studio. In addition to the work he had produced under his own name, he has compiled a formidable résumé that dates back to the ‘80s. His instrumental and vocal talents have been employed in the late Chris Gaffney’s Cold Hard Facts and Dave Alvin’s Guilty Men, and he has worked with singer-songwriter Katy Moffatt and rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson. He began sessions for a new record in the spring of 2019 at his home studio Casa de Calora in Covina, employing top-flight talent such as drummer Shawn Nourse (Dwight Yoakam, I See Hawks in L.A.) bassist Jeff Turmes (Mavis Staples), and his longtime collaborator Dave Hall. Work had progressed when the coronavirus pandemic brought the country to a standstill in early 2020. So Shea and his collaborators went the digital route, in their own backyards.
