Hello, and I hope you are all enjoying this early spring weather we are having. I cannot seem to read enough articles about the Presidential Primary process - all very exciting to watch. As I reported at our last meeting, I attended the CA Republican Party convention. If you are interested in helping with any Presidential campaigns, here is some contact information to get you started:

Ron Paul – Contact Matthew Heath at [email protected]

Newt Gingrich – they need volunteers to make phone calls, email – [email protected]

Rick Santorum is looking for a Sonoma County Chair. Contact Elissa Wadleigh at [email protected]

Mitt Romney – Catherine Baker, Bay Area Romney Chair, [email protected]

Last month we only received five survey responses back. I encourage you to complete it and send it in with your lunch reservation or even just send me an email with a few thoughts about the club. We want to hear from you. Thank you for approving our 2012 budget at the last meeting. We look forward to putting many items into play this coming year with your help. Eddie is lining up great speakers through June. Please put our meetings in your calendar as they are not to be missed. We encourage you to renew your membership and also become a sustaining member. We have contacted everyone who has not yet renewed so please send in your membership dues as soon as possible. Our newsletter looks different this month, thanks to our board members and especially Rosie Parks for selling ad space to help defray costs of printing and mailing the newsletter. If you are interested in promoting a business or ser- vice in our newsletter, Republicans are looking to support Republican businesses. Please contact Rosie Parks for de- tails at [email protected] or me at [email protected].

Thank you for all that you do. Marie Derr

Kevin McGary is the author of “Insanity!” In the book, Kevin presents a refreshing voice with compelling evidence that speaks to how “we the people”, through “blind trust” and lack of involvement, have been wholly complicit in supporting the erosion of rights, liberties and freedoms. He contends that collective zeal for a new era of “hope and change” has prompted irrational support for government leadership made up of charismatic personalities grounded in the strategic use of masterful rhetoric. It is infused with intellec- tual dishonesty and devoid of substance needed to move the country forward. Through thoughtful analysis presented through multiple vantage points, Kevin illuminates why and how a state of instant and selective insanity has permeated the current political spectrum. Kevin is President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California. This Founda- tion is committed to providing political advocacy, education and empowering "communities of color"/"urban centers" and “the Church” on the proper role of govern- ment. The Foundation is also committed to partnering with like-minded organizations to ensure maximum freedom, liberty, and justice! Kevin lives in Hayward, CA with his wife and 2 children. He is an Information Technology professional and an active member of the Hayward Rotary. He mentors with Reality Mentors and is a member of the NAACP and the 912 Freedom Fighters.

Chu believes that global warming could wipe out California farms within this century. Dr. Chu is undoubtedly a brilliant man. However, it appears that he has the same disease that has infected the President when it comes to an energy policy. This belief that global warm- ing is caused by human beings is responsible for the irrational policy regarding wind and solar and their role in saving the planet. The conse- quence of this policy is the administration’s plan to make gasoline very expensive. Chu recently told the truth at a congressional hearing which of course can be a major faux pas in Washington. He admitted to a House com- mittee member (Alan Nunnelee, R of MI) that the administration is not interested in lowering gas prices. The belief is that high gas prices provide the push to alternate energy technology and less reliance on oil for energy. This is one of the reasons for the President not approving the Keystone XL pipeline and not allowing drilling in federal lands and offshore areas. Drilling has increased only on private land.
