2. They also lost the supernatural gift of sanctifying grace which enables one to reach heaven (Redemption would reverse this loss and restore this grace in Baptism). The descendants of Adam come into the world deprived of sanctifying grace and inherit his punishment, as they would’ve inherited his gifts if he’d obeyed. This is called .
