Calm our fears and strengthen our faith that we may never doubt his presence among us but proclaim that he is your Son, risen from the dead, living for ever and ever. Amen.

The First Lesson Reading Psalm 85:8-13

Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts. Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky. The LORD will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him, and will make a path for his steps.

P. This is the Word of the Lord. C. Thanks be to God.

Salmos 85:8-13

The Second Lesson Reading Romans 10:10-15

For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. The scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all who call on him. For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

P. This is the Word of the Lord. C. Thanks be to God.

Romanos 10:10-15

The Alleluia Selection “Put Your Hand”

Refrain: Put your hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the waters, put your hand in the hand of the Man who calmed the sea; Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently, by putting your hand in the hand of the Man from Galilee.

1. Ev’ry time I look into the Holy Book I want to tremble; when I read about the part where a Carpenter cleared the temple; for the buyers and the sellers were no different fellas than what I profess to be, and it causes me shame to know I’m not the person I should be! Refrain

5

2. Mama taught me how to pray before I reached the age of seven; when I’m down on my knees that’s when I’m close to heaven; I can ask for anything that my fearful thumping heart and mind are pointed to – and the Man from Galilee well He will always pull me through. Refrain

plus triple ending

The Holy Gospel Matthew 14:22-33 C. Glory to You O, Lord.

Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid." Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

P. This is the Gospel of the Lord. C. Praise to You O, Christ.

Mateo 14:22-33

The Sermon Learning to Walk on Water Pastor Benke

Song “My Life Flows on in Endless Song”

1. My life flows on in endless song; above earth’s lamentation. I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn that hails a new creation.

Refrain: No storm can shake my inmost calm while to that Rock I’m clinging. Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?

2. Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear that music ringing. It finds an echo in my soul. How can keep from singing?

3. What though my joys and comforts die? The Lord my Savior liveth. What though the darkness gather round? Songs in the night he giveth.

4. The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, a fountain ever springing! All things are mine since I am his! How can I keep from singing?

Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And he will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

WELCOME TO ST. PETER’S in these days of unique challenge – we treasure our fellowship and the great love of God for us in new ways. All are welcome to our Sunday morning worship at 10:30 AM at www.spbklyn.org which is carried on You Tube and Facebook at St. Peter’s Lutheran Brooklyn as well as to our Wednesday evening Song and Prayer at 7 PM each Wednesday. Deaconess Janine Bolling offers us a Spiritual Health Checkup every Wednesday at 2 PM. We miss our lives the way they used to be, but know that New Life in Jesus comes every morning!

WELCOME BACK to those who have come in person this morning at either 9 AM or 10:30 AM to rejoin the fellowship and to receive Holy Communion. This is no doubt the longest period in the history of St. Peter’s during which Holy Communion was not offered, lasting four full months, including Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost Sundays. Forgiveness and strength are ours in His Meal, and we invite all to return as health permits going forward. Reservations can be made in all the social-media formats. We’ll be “taking the temperature” of directions for the future both from the City of New York as well as from all of our members and friends in an ongoing way, so that the joy of our salvation might be refreshed and renewed!

St. Peter’s Plot at the Highland Park Children’s Garden is now open for veggie business! The plot has been prepared and some tomato plants are in the ground (and well-watered!); those in attendance can claim tomatoes of all sizes, peppers of all heats, and the occasional zucchini.
