Cuyahoga County EOC Situation Report #18 - Coronavirus Date of Issue: 3/12/2020 Time Period: 1100-1900 Prepared by: Serena Steele, Situation Unit Leader Approved by: Mark Christie Incident Overview: On March 9, three patients in Cuyahoga County tested positive for COVID-19. All patients contracted the virus outside of the state of Ohio: two in Egypt and one in Washington, DC. Ohio Governor DeWine declared a state of emergency. On 3/11 a fourth case was confirmed in Stark County, OH. The Cuyahoga County EOC will be partially activated and staffed 0700-1900 on Tuesday 3/10 through at least Friday 3/13. Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish signed a Declaration of Emergency for Cuyahoga County. Mayor Frank Jackson released a proclamation of Civil Emergency for the City of Cleveland. The project focuses on the effects in Scotland of the development of the new media of film and wireless. It addresses question as to what changes, over the first decades of the twentieth century, these two revolutionary forms of public technology effect on the established entertainment system in Scotland and on the Scottish experience of culture. The study presents a broad view of the cultural scene in Scotland over the period: discusses contemporary politics; considers established and new theatrical activity; examines the development of a film culture; and investigates the expansion of broadcast wireless and its influence on indigenous theatre. -

They regularly dominate the nominations for Emmy and Golden Globe awards, and their success has profoundly affected the television and film industries and the content they produce. Through an examination of the birth and development of HBO, we will see what a closer analysis of the channel can tell us about television, Hollywood, and American culture over the last four decades. We will also look to the future to see what HBO might become in the increasingly global and digital television landscape. Student Learning Goals: This course will provide students with an opportunity to: • Understand the industrial conditions that led to the birth and success of HBO • Gain insight into the contemporary challenges and opportunities faced by the media industries • Develop critical thinking skills through focused analysis of readings and HBO content • Communicate clearly and confidently in class discussion and presentations Required Texts: 1. Theater Evacuation and Emergency Situation Guidelines
THEATER EVACUATION AND EMERGENCY SITUATION GUIDELINES As volunteer STARS or RedCoats, you have a unique role in the safety of guests who attend shows at Playhouse Square. We ask that you take this role very seriously. In an emergency, our primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of guests, volunteers, performers and employees of Playhouse Square. When you are assigned to work inside a theater or any other position within the complex, it is imperative that you are familiar with your surroundings. You will often be the first person a guest encounters if they have a question or need assistance. If something doesn’t look or feel right, do not hesitate to seek out a Head Usher or House Manager to assist. Your role is to “See Something. Say Something.” If everyone raises their level of awareness about their surroundings and pays attention to the details, it will assist Playhouse Square in making our theaters a special place for everyone to enjoy. Please take time to become familiar with the following evacuation guidelines in the unlikely event that any/all of the theaters in Playhouse Square need to be evacuated. These are general guidelines to follow regardless of the location and information about evacuation routes for each theater. We have also included guidelines for active shooter response and your role if a guest is reported missing. THEATER EVACUATION Upon Arrival In The Theater: Check emergency exit doors in your area to be sure they are functional and free of obstructions. Open emergency exit doors, see what’s on the other side of the door and get your bearings. -

Both plays set Cassius Carter Centre Stage the stage for an exciting 2008, filled with new work, familiar works produced with new insight, and a grand new musical ( Dancing in the Dark ) based on a classic MGM musical OOO from the golden age of Hollywood. Dear Community Partners, “Challenging” seems both an accurate and yet inadequate word to describe the last year as we confronted - as a nation and as a community - a series of crises from public health and economic dislocation to reckonings over racial justice and equity. Through it all, the Union Square Partnership played an important role in seeking to keep residents and businesses informed and connected, guiding them to resources, and working with relevant city agencies to support the district. What started as a COVID response turned to a COVID recovery agenda and by the fall of 2020, we released the #USQNext District Recovery Plan. This plan was aimed at accelerating the resumption of business activity and introducing quality of life improvements to continue the upward trend the neighborhood was enjoying prior to the pandemic. UNION SQUARE-14TH STREET HAS DEMONSTRATED INCREDIBLE RESILIENCE OVER THE PAST YEAR, AND THE DISTRICT IS WELL-POSITIONED TO REBOUND This year’s Annual Report is organized around the five pillars of the recovery plan, including reemphasizing core services like sanitation, beautification, and public safety coordination, bolstering our marketing efforts, and pursuing exciting new projects in the bold District Vision Plan released this past January. Most important, we would like to take a moment to express gratitude for the tireless dedication of frontline workers and essential service providers who kept our city functioning and to acknowledge the loss of loved ones that has affected so many. Jocelyn Bioh’s hit comedy School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, comes to Portland this January in a historic co-production between Artists Repertory Theatre and Portland Center Stage at The Armory. Inspired in part by Bioh’s mother’s time in a boarding school in Ghana, and Bioh’s own experience in at a boarding school in Pennsylvania, School Girls tells the story of Paulina, the reigning Queen Bee at Ghana’s most exclusive boarding school. Her dreams of winning the Miss Universe pageant are threatened by the arrival of Ericka, a new student with undeniable talent, beauty … and lighter skin. The New York Times called Bioh’s biting play about the challenges facing teenage girls across the globe “a gleeful African makeover of an American genre.” “Oftentimes, the stories about Africa that are being served up are usually tales of extreme poverty, struggle, strife, disease, and war,” said Bioh. “This narrative is a dangerous and calculated one, and it has always been my goal to present the Africa I know and love so dearly. School Girls was my first produced play, and I’m so thrilled at the reception.” Lava Alapai, who will direct School Girls, spoke to the importance of a comedic story centering Black teenage girls: “We seldom get to see Black women on stages that allow space for joy and community.” This production marks the first time that Artists Repertory Theatre and Portland Center Stage at The Armory have co-produced a show.
