SURI KRISHNAMMA Director/Writer Award winning director/writer Suri Krishnamma’s latest movie is Vision Entertainment’s dark thriller The Grief Tourist starring Melanie Griffith and Michael Cudlitz. Other recent features include Bad Karma for Limelight International/Zero Gravity, starring Ray Liotta and Dominic Purcell; Locked In, starring Ben Barnes and Eliza Dushku; Real McCoy Company’s Good Sharma, starring Billy Connolly, Joan Allen and Allen Enlow; and New Year’s Day for which Suri won The Jury Prize at the Raindance Film Festival and also The grand prix at Yubari, Japan. He earlier directed Albert Finney in BBC Film’s A Man of No Importance which earned three BAFTA Nominations. Suri has extensive television credits including the award winning The Cazalets for producer Verity Lambert and the BBC, starring Hugh Bonneville, Stephen Dillane and Anna Chancellor; The Turnaround, starring Clive Owen, for World productions; Ian La Frenais and Jimmy Nail’s Spender, also BBC; The Place of the Dead, with Greg Wise and Dougray Scott, for LWT; Blue Murder for Granada; Cold Blood for ITV, starring John Hannah, Jemma Redgrave and Pauline Quirke; a contemporary adaptation of Wuthering Heights for MTV Films; the BBC’s A Respectable Trade, with Warren Clarke, Anna Massey, Richard Briers and Jenny Agutter; and episodes of Waking The Dead, Dalziel & Pascoe, Casualty, Soldier Soldier; and The Bill. As a writer/director he has made five short films – Mohammed’s Daughter, his first student film for which he was Nominated for a BAFTA; the following year, while still a student, he was again Nominated for a BAFTA, a Gold Hugo and won Gold at the Bilbao International Festival of Shorts for Water’s Edge. He also has a number of projects in development including a contemporary adaptation of Hamlet, a comedy Bedhism, a sci-fi thriller Waiting For Martin and a conspiracy thriller set in the North of England. Suri was born on the Isle of Wight, the son of an English mother and an Indian father. He studied film at Arts University Bournemouth before post graduate study in Fiction Direction at The National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield under the legendary Colin Young.
