Why does the fading of the social solidarity happen? This time, the Indonesians are experiencing the multidimensional crisis that is eroding the culture of mutual assistance, the community group work, caring for each other and social gap, while the social solidarity in essence is the Indonesians’ self identity. The self identity, according to the Minister for Social Affairs, Salim Segaf Al Jufri , “is something needs rebuilding” by empowering the social solidarity movement by involving various elements that may prevent the brittle of the nation’s strength (Republika, 2012). By the easily breaking of the social solidarity into social conflicts—in many instances without reasonable cause whatsoever—shows one thing: trust between one another is thinning and thinning. Nobody can tell whether the trust will disappear altogether or will endure the test of the time. Nobody actually wants the trust will fade away but there is nobody that is able to promote a solution to the jumble mumble of the situation. Re- Mahathirisation refers to the increase in attachment towards the legacy of Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (1981–2003). Transpiring not long after Mahathir's relinquishment of official power, the process was seen as approaching a peak with BN-UMNO's campaign for the 13th General Elections (GE13) of May 2013. It was orchestrated especially by conservative elements in UMNO disillusioned with the political liberalisation began by his successor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (2003–2009) and continued by Najib Razak. In line with an understanding of conservatism as characterised by resistance against radical change and by admiration of past values, re- Mahathirisation was employed by the BN-UMNO regime during the GE13 hustings to court the large pool of conservative-minded Malay voters. The successful dislodging of Abdullah Badawi from the party-cum-national leadership in 2009 signified a powerful return of Mahathirism to the foreground of UMNO and national politics. Although Najib Razak has pursued Abdullah's political liberalisation initiatives, he felt compelled to tolerate a rising public presence of Mahathir.

It suggests that blogs perform three main functions, which help make a democracy more meaningful: blogs as fifth estate, blogs as networks, and blogs as platform for expression. First, blogs function as the fifth estate performing checks-and-balances over the government. This function is expressed by blogs’ role in the dissemination of information, providing alternative perspectives that challenge the dominant frame, and setting of news agenda. The second function of blogs is that they perform as networks. This is linked to the social-networking aspect of the blogosphere both online and offline. Blogs also have the potential to act as mobilizing agents. The mobilizing capability of blogs facilitated the mass street protests, which took place in late- 2007 and early-2008 in Malaysia.

20/07/2005 Zainuddin-Rafidah ZAINUDDIN SAYS HE HAS NOTHING AGAINST RAFIDAH KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) -- Deputy Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin said he has nothing against Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz but is concerned with her disrespectful reply to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the Approved Permits (APs) issue. "I'm not questioning who get and who don't get the APs. I regret the direspectful way she responded to Dr Mahathir's concern about Proton," he told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here today. Zainuddin said he believed that the International Trade and Industry Minister had hurt the feelings of Dr Mahathir and the people who loved the former Prime Minister when she replied in the press on the AP issue. The Deputy Minister said yesterday that when he was at the KLCC and Ampang Park, he was approached by several people including the non-Malays who supported him for making the call to Rafidah. "Someone (an Indian) said, Datuk (you) have carried out your task Datuk. I said what was it? No, no, you have said something that we wanted to say. I feel you all (journalists) have the same feelings," he said. Zainuddin said Rafidah was a very inteligent person, very capable of doing things and nobody could deny that. He said Rafidah had strengthened the Wanita Umno and had the potential of becoming a Prime Minister. "I don't say that she's rude," he said. However, he felt that Rafidah should not have answered the way she did in the press on the AP issue.

The focus of the present article is on the government’s use of its coercive security apparatus since the terrorist attacks of 9/11. My argument is that the apparatus is largely unchanged by the current global climate of the ‘War on Terror.’ Notably, Malaysia’s use of coercion has become increasingly less criticized by other governments, notably those in the West.

He started as a stringer in Alor Setar at e age of 19 and ended his journalistic career as Chief Editor the Utusan Melayu Group. In a career which spanned more than thirty years, Zam as able to witness first-hand the progress of his people and parts played by the main protagonists from the early struggle for independence to the period of political maturity; and was occasionally a player himself in the social, economic and political upheavels which shaped the growth of the nation.ZAM with his journalistic contemporaries, followed closety the careers of Prime Ministers Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, Tun Abdul Razak, Tun Hussein Onn, and then Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir. He himself regards the years covering the political career of Tun Abdul Razak as the most valuable experience, and certainly one which has left a lasting impression on him. "This period in my journalistic career was the most dramatic, suspenseful, challenging, exciting and memorable," he says. In this book the writer now looks back to these years when he followed Tun Abdul Razak's journey to every nook and corner of the country in his mission to spread the message of 'Rural Development' in the early 1960s. Dr M strongman slams 'royal' bill and MB MalaysiaKini.com Jun 9, 2014 Former minister Zainuddin Maidin, a fervent supporter of Dr Mahathir Mohamad has joined the battle over the royal bill with all guns blazing. In a blog posting today, he opened fire on Johor Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin for rushing the amendments to the Housing and Real Property Bill without proper discussion and consultation. The former information minister said a menteri besar who is sensitive to the people's feelings would have deferred the tabling of the controversial bill. "He (the MB) would have acknowledged that the power of the people is greater than the power of the monarchy and not proceed with the tabling..." he added in the posting titled "Pindaan yang penting meniadakan peranan raja" (The most important amendment is to do away with the role of the royal). He also included a subheading, which read: "Rakyat Johor Berkabung Hari Ini". (The people of Johor are mourning today). Without mincing words, Zainuddin said if the bill is passed today, then the people of Johor would "mourn the calamity which would befall them due to poor leadership." His comments come in the wake of Mahathir's criticism of the bill and veiled caution to the royals. This morning, the former premier also expressed concern that the menteri besar would bow to royal pressure. Who offered the role to sultan? Zainuddin, who is also a visiting fellow at Universiti Utara Malaysia's Institut Pemikiran Tun Dr Mahathir, also pointed out that the menteri besar's hasty amendments had failed to pacify the people.
