Sejumlah 1763 mahasiswa dari berbagai latar belakang program studi pada 11 fakutas yang ada di Unsrat berhasil lolos dalam proses seleksi dan mengikuti program kuliah ini. Mereka diterjunkan secara berkelompok di 115 desa dan 6 kelurahan dalam 10 wilayah kecamatan yang ada di Kabupaten Minahasa Utara selama 2 bulan penuh terhitung sejak tanggal 25 Pebruari 2016. Sesuai tema, Mahasiswa KKT Angkatan Ke-111 dibebani tugas khusus untuk membuat website dan sistim informasi desa, serta membantu desa dalam hal pengelolaan dana desa. Mahasiswa juga diberi kesempatan untuk mengembangkan program tambahan sesuai kebutuhan ril yang mereka temukan di desa, dalam bentuk apapun tanpa membebani mahasiswa secara keuangan. Banyak hal yang dihasilkan oleh mahasiswa, salah satu diantaranya yang penting yaitu pemutahiran data-data dan informasi di setiap desa yang dibutuhkan untuk pengisian website desa serta kelengkapan dokumen desa yang dapat digunakan untuk berbagai tujuan. Sejalan dengan itu, munculah ide penulisan sebuah buku tentang profil, sejarah dan potensi unggulan desa/kelurahan di Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Menyadari bahwa setiap desa/kelurahan memiliki karakteristiknya masing -masing, maka dibuat panduan sederhana untuk pengumpulan data dan informasi, dan diatur alur komunikasi serta distribusi informasi melalui Email, Website http://lppm.unsrat.ac.id/, Facebook KKT-111 UNSRAT 2016, Website Desa yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa. Perlahan, data dan informasi mulai dikirimkan oleh mahasiswa dari lokasi mereka masing-masing. Kiriman data dan informasi dinarasikan, dikoreksi dan dikembalikan kepada mahasiswa untuk dilengkapi atau ditanggapi hingga diperoleh versi akhir tulisan untuk masing-masing desa/kelurahan. Kesabaran, keuletan serta kerjasama yang baik seluruh tim bermuara pada terciptanya sebuah buku yang diberi judul “Kabupaten Minahasa Utara: Profil, Sejarah dan Potensi Unggulan Desa”. Buku ini disusun dalam 10 bagian berdasarkan wilayah kecamatan dan masing-masing bagian memuat data dan informasi tentang profil, sejarah dan potensi unggulan i setiap desa/kelurahan. Dalam pembahasaan maupun penampilannya, buku ini didisain sedemikian rupa agar dapat dibaca oleh semua kalangan dengan berbagai latar belakang. Membaca buku ini sama dengan melakukan penjalanan ke desa/kelurahan yang ada di Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Pembaca dapat memulai perjalanannya dari satu desa ke desa lainnya, dan akan dijumpai banyak kejutan sepanjang perjalanan. Itulah Minahasa Utara, Negeri yang dianugerahi Tuhan dengan berbagai kelebihannya. Akhirnya, buku ini masih berada pada versinya yang pertama dan kehadirannya tidak untuk dipertentangkan. Masih banyak kekurangan di dalamnya sehingga perlu untuk terus dilengkapi bahkan disempurnakan agar data dan informasi yang ditampilkan dapat dijadikan referensi dan landasan dalam pengembangan wawasan tentang Minahasa Utara. Semoga setiap kita yang mencintai Negeri Minahasa Utara semakin terdorong untuk mempelajari dan mengembangkan segala potensi yang ada bagi kemakmuran rakyat. Manado, Mei 2016 Penulis ii KATA SAMBUTAN Rektor Universitas Sam Ratulangi Terdapat tiga obyek kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Terpadu (KKT) bila dilihat dari tujuannya, yaitu untuk mahasiswa, masyarakat dan Unsrat. Untuk mahasiswa dimaksudkan sebagai wahana mengimplementasikan ilmu pengetahuan yang diperoleh di bangku kuliah dan pengembangan karakter. Dilakukan tetap dalam proses belajar untuk mengetahui dan merumuskan permasalahan, mencari jalan keluar, dan memberi solusi atasnya. Untuk masyarakat, eksistensi KKT dimaksudkan agar dapat menjadi ‘job partner’ melaksanakan pembangunan desa/kelurahan dalam berbagai aspeknya. Bagi Unsrat KKT merupakan salah satu perwujudan misinya dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Kami sangat bersyukur karena dalam pelaksanaan KKT Unsrat Angkatan ke-111 ini, aspek tematik yang diangkat adalah terkait program pembuatan website desa, sistim informasi desa, dan pengelolaan dana desa. Lebih dari itu, buku Profil, Sejarah, dan Potensi Unggulan Desa di Kabupaten Minahasa Utara juga diterbitkan. Melibatkan 1.763 mahasiswa dari 11 Fakultas yang disebar di 115 Desa dan 6 Kelurahan di Kabupaten Minahasa Utara, bagaimana pun kehadiran buku ini patut diapresiasi, terutama kepada seluruh mahasiswa, Dosen Pembimbing Lapangan, Dosen Pengawas, Supervisor, juga kepada Koordinator KKT Unsrat yang telah berinisiatif untuk menulis dan menerbitkannya. Terima kasih disampaikan kepada Pemda Kabupaten Minahasa Utara bersama jajarannya sampai di tingkat Desa/Kelurahan dan Jaga/Lingkungan yang dipastikan telah turut membantu mahasiswa kami melaksanakan program-programnya. PKKMB harus direncanakan secara matang agar dapat dijadikan momentum bagi mahasiswa baru untuk mendapat informasi yang tepat mengenai sistem pendidikan di perguruan tinggi baik bidang akademik maupun non-akademik. PKKMB juga diharapkan dapat menjadi penyadaran akan adanya hal-hal yang dapat menghambat studi mahasiswa baru termasuk bisa menghambat pencapaian tujuan nasional misalnya masalah radikalisme, terorisme, penyalahgunaan narkoba, plagiarisme, korupsi dan lainnya. Though Adam Malik was by no means the only politician to hold high office under both Guided Democracy and the New Order, he was by far the most distinguished and successful. Others were political hacks with no true political coloring, or representatives of specialized con­ stituencies not involved directly in the conflict between Sukarno and the army; but Malik had been a central figure in the formulation of Guided Democracy and a close counsellor of Sukarno. Moreover, having chosen against that leader in the crisis following the coup of October 1965, he was not thereby completely discredited in the eyes of his former colleagues. For many of his old leftist associates he remained a patron: a leader who would still receive and could occasionally aid them, who could still speak their language, if only in private, and who still—in spite of his evident wealth, Western admirers, and service to a counter-revolutionary regime—seemed to embody what remained of the Generation of ’45, the fading memories of a radical and optimistic youth. To survive so successfully, a man must either be most simple and consistent, or quite the opposite. No one could accuse Adam Malik of transparency, yet there was a consistency about the image he cultivated. From early youth he appeared as a radical nationalist, a man of the left; and however unsympathetic the regime to that viewpoint he never allowed the pursuit of ambition completely to cloud that picture.

On the contrary, legend has already penetrated into the history of this event, a fact to which the retired vice-president of the Republic of Indonesia drew the attention only the other day; he even warned against this legend coming into existence. Therefore it seems to me that it would be a good thing, f or Indonesia as well as f or the rest of the world, to try and draw away the curtain of myth and come as near to the truth as possible. In doing this we can now make use of richer source material than was the case some years ago. For this purpose we may refer to the list of sources at the end of this paper. In one of the writings composed af ter Japan's surrender by Japanese officers for the use of the Allied authorities, in order to inform them on the management of the Netherlands Indies by the Japanese, it is openly declared that it was never the deliberate intention of Japan to grant independence to the Indonesians.

Frederick This thesis discusses one central problem: What happened to Indonesian historiography in the New Order (1966-98)? To analyze the problem, the author studies the connections between the major themes in his intellectual autobiography and those in the metahistory of the regime. Proceeding in chronological and thematic manner, the thesis comes in three parts. Part One presents the author’s intellectual autobiography, which illustrates how, as a member of the generation of people who grew up in the New Order, he came into contact with history. Part Two examines the genealogy of and the major issues at stake in the post-New Order controversy over the rectification of history. Part Three ends with several concluding observations. First, the historiographical engineering that the New Order committed was not effective. Second, the regime created the tools for people to criticize itself, which shows that it misunderstood its own society. Third, Indonesian contemporary culture is such that people abhor the idea that there is no single truth.

Thaler, Department of Government, Harvard University [email protected] “In terms of the numbers killed, the anti-PKI massacres in Indonesia rank as one of the worst mass murders of the 20th century, along with the Soviet purges of the 1930's, the Nazi mass murders during the Second World War, and the Maoist bloodbath of the early 1950's. In this regard, the Indonesian coup is certainly one of the most significant events of the 20th century, far more significant than many other events that have received much greater publicity.” Written in 1968 in a report by the Central Intelligence Agency (71fn), the statement above still holds true today. The massacres of members of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) and associated mass organizations, as well as other alleged communists, henceforth referred to as “the Killings,”2 claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, yet they remain little known in the United States.3 Among the key differences, however, between the Indonesian Killings of 1965-66 and the other mass killings mentioned is that while the other episodes were perpetrated by US enemies, the killings in Indonesia were committed by military and civilian organizations receiving aid, training, and encouragement from the United States government. 1 Pre-production draft.
