The Tree of Life GOLDENE PALME CANNES 2011 THE TREE OF LIFE Ein Film von Terrence Malick USA 2011 138 Minuten, Farbe THE TREE OF LIFE Auch der fünfte Film von Terrence Malick [BADLANDS (Badlands, 1973), DAYS OF HEAVEN (In der Glut des Südens, 1978), THE THIN RED LINE (Der schmale Grat, 1998), THE NEW WORLD (The New World, 2005)] ist eine Kinoerfahrung, die zum Nachdenken anregt. Das künstlerische Team besteht aus talentierten Filmhandwerkern, die schon früher mit Malick zusammenarbeiteten, darunter der vier Mal für einen Oscar® nominierte Kameramann Emmanuel Lubezki, ASC, AMC [THE NEW WORLD, CHILDREN OF MEN (Children of Men, 2006), A LITTLE PRINCESS (Die Traumprinzessin, 1995) und SLEEPY HOLLOW (Sleepy Hollow, 1999)], die Oscar®-nominierte Kostümdesignerin Jacqueline West [THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (Der seltsame Fall des Benjamin Button, 2008), QUILLS (Quills – Macht der Besessenheit, 2000)], der Oscar®-nominierte Szenenbildner Jack Fisk [THERE WILL BE BLOOD (There Will Be Blood, 2007), DAYS OF HEAVEN (In der Glut des Südens, 1978)] und ein Team verschiedener Cutter, darunter Hank Corwin (THE NEW WORLD), Jay Rabinowitz [REQUIEM FOR A DREAM (Requiem for a Dream, 2000), I’M NOT THERE (I’m Not There, 2007), 8 MILE (8 Mile, 2002)], Daniel Rezende, Oscar®- nominiert für CITY OF GOD (City of God, 2002), der zweimal für einen Oscar® nominierte Billy Weber [THE THIN RED LINE (Der schmale Grat, 1998), TOP GUN (Top Gun – Sie fürchten weder Tod noch Teufel, 1986)] und Mark Yoshikawa (THE NEW WORLD). Die Musik komponierte Alexandre Desplat, der für THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (Der seltsame Fall des Benjamin Button, 2008), THE QUEEN (Die Queen, 2006) und THE KING’S SPEECH (The King’s Speech – Die Rede des Königs) drei Oscar®-Nominierungen erhielt. BESETZUNG Mr. O’Brien Brad Pitt Jack Sean Penn Mrs. O’Brien Jessica Chastain Großmutter Fiona Shaw Messenger Irene Bedard Der kleine Jack Hunter McCracken R.L. Mit THE TREE OF LIFE führt er diese Filmsprache in neue Bereiche weiter.
