The said project falls under schedule 6(b): Isolated Storage & handling of Hazardous Chemicals and Category A (as per EIA notification 14.09.2006).

The Karnala Bird Sanctuary lies within an aerial distance of 5 KM from the proposed project location.  The site is situated at Latitude : 18°51'9.16"N, Longitude : 73° 9'52.77"E. Project Profile

Oil marketing companies have projected an increase in demand of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in future due to increase in its domestic use. The demand is likely to increase substantially over the years to come. In line with the requirement envisaged and to ensure fulfilment of demand, MOP&NG has planned that different oil companies should increase storage for LPG. Accordingly HPCL proposes to install new LPG storage and bottling plant at Chavane village, Rasayani, Panvel, Raigad, Maharashtra State to meet the growing market LPG demand. HPCL proposes to provide 4 x 500 MT capacity MSV (Total 2000 MT storage capacity), 180 TMTPA capacity, 2 x 36 Filling guns electronic carousel, 8 nos. of Tank truck Loading/ Unloading bays. The LPG cylinders will be distributed through roadways in the nearby areas of Raigad District.

Resource Requirement i) Land Requirement

The Plant will require 35 acres of land. (A rivulet of Patalganga river passes throughout the plot) The proposed Site location was decided by proximity of the location from Uran Chakan LPG Pipeline. This site location was feasible for storage of LPG and transportation of LPG cylinders to neighboring districts of Maharashtra.

The proposed unit will required 36 KLD water from ground as daily industrial and domestic water demand. The Plant will generate 3 KLD of effluent and 1.4 KLD of sewage. STP/ETP of 20 KLD capacity will be provided. iii) Power

Construction Phase: 100 KVA sourced from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL).or through DG sets at site. Operation Phase: 750 KVA sourced from MSEDCL or through DG sets of 2 x 600 KVA and 1 x 250 KVA capacity. DG sets will be only used in case of MSEDCL power failures during operations. iv) Man power

The local labor will be employed, thus no housing for construction labor is required for construction of proposed project. During Construction phase, approx. 150 Labors & during operation of plant, approx. 42 Labors shall be employed. v) Cost of the project

The total cost of the proposed project has been estimated at Rs. 24,926 Lakhs INR.
