Hopper Caloosa Belle While we were kids, Earth Day celebra- tions might’ve included projects like mak- ing sunflower seed-and-peanut butter pine cones to hang as bird feeders, or up-cycling soup cans into a pencil holders, while some of us even helped to plant trees. It was al- ways a day filled with activities that instilled the reduce, reuse, recycle theme that has surrounded Earth Day for the past fifty years. A mantra that has a tendency to lose meaning and momentum as we age. But, Earth Day is still important, as it reminds us all to think about solutions to the problems our planet faces, and there is plenty that we can do to contribute. “While writing a letter to a politician or making a donation to an environmental Courtesy photo/ Kass Whidden of Lilac Photography cause are not actions to be taken lightly, there are smaller actions that can be taken,” said Danielle Poole, a community organizer who plans to volunteer at Hendry County’s 2020 Swamp Cabbage Royalty 50th Anniversary of Earth Day event. “I am a lifelong resident, and I know so many From left to right Junior Miss Jayla Williams, Swamp Cabbage Queen Ryley Bowen, Swamp Cabbage Princess Grace people in Hendry who just don’t think Ryan, and in front is Little Miss Remington Ergle. Nicholas J. Cutinha was just one of a generation of young people who followed their consciences into the crosshairs of history, a journey that would end for him with the posthumous presentation of the Medal of Honor. • The K-Pop Wave: an Economic Analysis
The K-pop Wave: An Economic Analysis Patrick A. Messerlin1 Wonkyu Shin2 (new revision October 6, 2013) ABSTRACT This paper first shows the key role of the Korean entertainment firms in the K-pop wave: they have found the right niche in which to operate— the ‘dance-intensive’ segment—and worked out a very innovative mix of old and new technologies for developing the Korean comparative advantages in this segment. Secondly, the paper focuses on the most significant features of the Korean market which have contributed to the K-pop success in the world: the relative smallness of this market, its high level of competition, its lower prices than in any other large developed country, and its innovative ways to cope with intellectual property rights issues. Thirdly, the paper discusses the many ways the K-pop wave could ensure its sustainability, in particular by developing and channeling the huge pool of skills and resources of the current K- pop stars to new entertainment and art activities. Last but not least, the paper addresses the key issue of the ‘Koreanness’ of the K-pop wave: does K-pop send some deep messages from and about Korea to the world? It argues that it does. Keywords: Entertainment; Comparative advantages; Services; Trade in services; Internet; Digital music; Technologies; Intellectual Property Rights; Culture; Koreanness. Meeting this need by facilitating and enhancing communication in any form can be vital to a patient’s well-being. Therapy should include tasks that focus on semantic processing, including semantic cueing of spoken output, semantic judgments, categorization, and word-to-picture matching. Therapy may target the comprehension and production of complex, as well as simple, sentence forms. Therapy should be conducted within natural communication environments. Rehabilitation is an important part of recovering from a stroke, and the goal is to regain as much independence as possible. This book incorporates the above principles and is also based on expert professional practice. Copyright © 2007 LinguiSystems, Inc. • Vertical Facility List
Facility List The Walt Disney Company is committed to fostering safe, inclusive and respectful workplaces wherever Disney-branded products are manufactured. Numerous measures in support of this commitment are in place, including increased transparency. To that end, we have published this list of the roughly 7,600 facilities in over 70 countries that manufacture Disney-branded products sold, distributed or used in our own retail businesses such as The Disney Stores and Theme Parks, as well as those used in our internal operations. Our goal in releasing this information is to foster collaboration with industry peers, governments, non- governmental organizations and others interested in improving working conditions. Under our International Labor Standards (ILS) Program, facilities that manufacture products or components incorporating Disney intellectual properties must be declared to Disney and receive prior authorization to manufacture. The list below includes the names and addresses of facilities disclosed to us by vendors under the requirements of Disney’s ILS Program for our vertical business, which includes our own retail businesses and internal operations. The list does not include the facilities used only by licensees of The Walt Disney Company or its affiliates that source, manufacture and sell consumer products by and through independent entities. Disney’s vertical business comprises a wide range of product categories including apparel, toys, electronics, food, home goods, personal care, books and others. As a result, the number of facilities involved in the production of Disney-branded products may be larger than for companies that operate in only one or a limited number of product categories. In addition, because we require vendors to disclose any facility where Disney intellectual property is present as part of the manufacturing process, the list includes facilities that may extend beyond finished goods manufacturers or final assembly locations.

Hyniea (Niea) Gardner A Thesis in the Field of Anthropology and Archaeology for the Degree of Master of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies Harvard University May 2019 © May 2019 Hyniea (Niea) Gardner Abstract In 2016 the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) reported that the Korean music industry saw an overseas revenue of ₩5.3 trillion ($4.7 billion) in concert tickets, streaming music, compact discs (CDs), and related services and merchandise such as fan meetings and purchases of music artist apparel and accessories (Kim 2017 and Erudite Risk Business Intelligence 2017). Korean popular music (K-Pop) is a billion-dollar industry. Known for its energetic beats, synchronized choreography, and a sound that can be an amalgamation of electronica, blues, hip-hop, rock, and R&B all mixed together to create something that fans argue is “uniquely K-Pop.” However, further examination reveals that producers and songwriters – both Korean and the American and European specialists contracted by agencies – tend to base the foundation of the K-Pop sound in hip-hop and R&B, which has strong ties to African-American musical traditions.
