The White Eagles had to play the majority of last week’s clash without influential midfielder Ray Miller. If Miller is unable to recover the pressure will be on Jewook Woo and Dean Bereveskos to create chances against a formidable Blacktown defence. For City it is a case of deja vu with their recent two game stumble familiar to a run of three games earlier in the campaign where nothing would go right for the Seven Hills based side. 1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Sydney Olympic FC 13 9 2 2 23 10 13 29 2 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 13 8 2 3 31 14 17 26 3 Blacktown City FC 13 7 3 3 20 11 9 24 4 Sydney United 58 FC 13 6 2 5 19 16 3 20 5 Sutherland Sharks FC 13 5 2 6 19 18 1 17 6 Manly United FC 13 4 5 4 18 19 -1 17 7 Rockdale City Suns FC 13 5 2 6 24 27 -3 17 8 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 13 4 3 6 19 20 -1 15 9 Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC 13 4 3 6 17 28 -11 15 10 Wollongong Wolves FC 13 4 3 6 12 23 -11 15 11 Marconi Stallions FC 13 3 5 5 15 21 -6 14 12 Sydney FC 13 2 2 9 17 27 -10 8 5 MATCH REVIEWS #NPLNSW Marconi Stallions 2 – Bonnyrigg White Eagles 2 at Marconi Stadium Marconi Stallions and Bonnyrigg White Eagles were forced to share the spoils after playing out a hard fought 2-2 draw at Marconi Stadium on Saturday. Bonnyrigg snatched a point from the result thanks to a clinical Shervin Adeli penalty in the 62nd minute. It was another difficult result for Marconi who were in prime position to claim victory before conceding a second half equaliser. Bonnyrigg captain Ray Miller gave the visitors the perfect start with a goal in the eighth minute which proved to be the only goal of the first half as the White Eagles went into the break with a 1-0 lead. However, the home side hit back early in the second stanza as a 48th minute strike from Peter Pelekanos levelled the score before Sean Rooney put Marconi in front 2-1 ten minutes later. But it wasn’t to be for the Stallions as a handball in the box only moments later gifted Bonnyrigg an equaliser and an all important competition point. Blacktown City 0 – Sydney United 58 1 at Lily Homes Stadium It was a winning start for Miro Vlastelica as Sydney United 58 defeated Blacktown City FC by a 1-0 scoreline at Lily Homes Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The new coach’s first match at the helm resulted in three valuable points thanks to a decisive early goal from Matt Sim. The result narrows third-placed Blacktown’s lead over United, reducing the gap from a daunting seven points to a hope-instilling four as teams begin to jostle for positions as we push into the back half of the 2018 NPL NSW Men’s season. 6 NPLNSW.COM.AU TEAM OF THE WEEK 01: LARGE USE: OVER 150MM WIDE This logo has a smaller ‘®’ symbol FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT 02: SMALL USE: 55MM - 150MM WIDE This logo has a larger ‘®’ symbol 7 #NPLNSW keep our game beautiful INTEGRITY IN SPORT Football NSW and the National Premier Leagues NSW are bound by Football Federation Australia’s NATIONAL CODE OF CONDUCT and NATIONAL ANTI-DOPING POLICY.
