In her two years at RU, the squad improved from an unranked team with a 7-9 record in 2006 into an IWLCA 17th-ranked team with a 12-5 record in 2007. Wong entered the coaching ranks following her playing days at the University of Connecticut, where she was a goalkeeper for then-head coach Bonnie Rosen. A four-year letterwinner from 2001-05, Wong helped the squad to the 2005 ECAC Championship and a No. 15 national ranking. In addition to receiving her bachelor’s degree in business administration from UConn, she also received her master’s degree from Temple in sport and recreation administration.

There are many awards that can be earned in the sport of women's lacrosse, but the YRL Unsung Hero is truly one of the most meaningful." Formerly given to lacrosse players in the ACC Conference, the award became open to all Division I programs in 2013. The award rec- ognizes accomplishments of student-athletes who help their team achieve success in ways that may not be measured in goals, saves or ground balls. The honor is meaningful because it places value on char- acteristics that are often undervalued in the competitively charged environment of college athletics. “We would like to thank every lacrosse program that submit- ted a nomination,” said Sharon Robinson, a member of the YRL Un- sung Hero Award selection committee. “We were so impressed with the student-athletes that were nominated and wish we could reward them all. It is so reassuring to see how these future leaders are con- tributing to their communities in a positive manner. Our goal is to continue growing this award as well as its prestige in college athlet- ics, so we can celebrate the good in college athletics and continue to honor Yeardley's legacy.” (L to R): Bonnie Rosen, Kelsey Zenuk, Kellee Pace, Hooter, Meghan Clothier, Megan Chlada, Missy Schweitzer, Keelin Hood and Julianna Jeffers.
