COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE Marraine 2016 COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE 7 AVRIL 2016 La Fondation Gan pour le Cinéma révèle sa marraine 2016 Après les cinéastes Katell Quillévéré en 2014 et Marilyne Canto en 2015, la Fondation Gan a invité Alice Winocour, scénariste et réalisatrice, à être sa marraine 2016. En 2011, son premier long métrage AUGUSTINE a été récompensé de l’Aide à la Création de la Fondation Gan. En tant que marraine, Alice Winocour accompagnera les temps forts de la Fondation et présidera le Jury de l'Aide à la Création, qui distinguera les 4 lauréats 2016 . "J’ai eu la chance d’obtenir l’aide de la Fondation Gan pour mon premier long- métrage AUGUSTINE. C'est la première aide qui m'a été accordée. Elle a déclenché tout le processus de financement de ce projet ambitieux. J'espère à mon tour pouvoir donner cette chance à d’autres auteurs - les soutenir comme la Fondation Gan m'a soutenue." Après des études de scénario à la FEMIS, Alice Winocour réalise trois courts métrages qui remportent de nombreux prix internationaux (dont KITCHEN, sélectionné en Compétition Officielle à Cannes en 2005). Elle collabore à l’écriture de longs métrages, parmi lesquels ORDINARY PEOPLE de Vladimir Perisic (Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2009) et MUSTANG de Deniz Gamze Ergüven (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs Cannes 2015). © Aurélie Lamachère En 2011, elle réalise son premier long-métrage, AUGUSTINE avec Vincent Lindon, Soko et Chiara Mastroiani (Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2012, Toronto 2012, nommé au César du Meilleur Premier Film). Son second long métrage, MARYLAND , avec Matthias Schoenaerts et Diane Kruger est présenté en sélection officielle à Cannes ( Un Certain Regard , 2015), puis au Festival International de Toronto (TIFF 2015) et remporte le Prix de la Mise en Scène au Festival International du Film de Los Angeles (AFI 2015.) Actualités 2016 Alice Winocour, vient d’être récompensée du César du Meilleur Scénario Original pour le film MUSTANG co-écrit avec la réalisatrice Deniz Gamze Ergüven. AUGUSTINE avec Vincent Lindon et Soko , film lauréat de la Fondation Gan (2011). Elle fera partie du Jury de la 55 e édition de la Semaine de la Critique , compétition parallèle du Festival de Cannes, dont la Fondation Gan est partenaire.     PROXIMA (12A) Director: Alice Winocour Starring: Eva Green, Zélie Boulant, Matt Dillon France/Germany, 2019, 1 hour 47 minutes SUBTITLES The director, Alice Winocour, born in 1976 in Paris, has written and directed for the cinema since studying screenwriting at Le Femis and making her own short films. She co-wrote Mustang, a film we screened at Borderlines in 2015, wrote and directed Augustine (2012), and Disorder (2015, with Mattias Schoenaerts), and Proxima is her third feature film as writer/director. Winocour said she had wanted to make a film about a mother and daughter for a long time and then the idea to set it in the context of a woman working in the man’s world of space exploration clicked for her. She was fascinated by space when she was a child, and then she started to research for the film, meet astronauts, see the process they went through to train and the extraordinary efforts made to leave the earth and she realized they spent most of their lives preparing to leave and not always leaving. She realized that none of this intense and difficult preparation appeared in the famous Hollywood space films, and she wanted to show it. As her idea progressed, she realized that the figure of the astronaut served as the perfect metaphor for the intimate and complicated relationship between a mother and a daughter. And this would be heightened to extremes in a situation where the woman astronaut is preparing to leave her eight-year-old daughter for a whole year. “I thought it would designate this idea of separation because astronauts have to separate from Mother Earth,” explains Winocour.
