Diving-Price-List.Pdf please contact dive center/Reception for eservation Learn to dive, our courses Discover Scuba Diving Program (DSD) The PADI “Discover Scuba Diving” (DSD) program introduces you to scuba diving in a highly supervised and relaxed manner. It is the first program offered by PADI for guests who don’t hold a certification for diving or have never tried diving before and would like to give a go. The participants will be under the guidance of a PADI professional throughout the experi-ence. This two hour program consists of a brief theory session, confined water exercises and a dive on our house reef (maximum depth 12 metres). Participants of this program must be at least 10 years old. PADI Scuba Diver Certification Course If you would like to obtain a PADI certification but don’t want to spend four days of your holiday doing it, the PADI Scuba diver certification is the best way to get you started. Within 2 days, you will complete a series of theory lesson, three confined water sessions and two dives in the open water to a maximum depth of 12 meters. After the course the student will be certified to dive to 12 meters but must be under the supervision of a PADI professional at all times. Participants must be at least 10 years old and must be able to float. The certified diver will receive credit towards the completion of the PADI “Open Water Diver” Course. PADI Open Water Diver Course The “Open Water Diver” course consists of four days training in theory and practice. On suc-cessful completion, a certification will be issued which opens the door to endless adventures in diving. Guests who would like to avoid the class room sessions and save time of their vaca-tion, PADI offers an “eLearning” course for the theory part. On arrival we will do a quick review of the learned theory and then you are ready for in water action. Participants must be 10 years old to get started. 10 and 11 year olds will be issued a “Junior Open Water” certifica-tion, able to dive to 12 meters. 12 and 14 years olds will also receive the “Junior Open Water” certification, but will be able to dive to 18 metres. Once the diver is 15 years old, the “junior” certification automatically becomes a full “Open Water Diver” certification. Information for certified Divers Orientation Dive Before engaging in boat diving, as required by Maldivian regulations for scuba diving, all certied divers who have not been diving in the last three months and/or divers who have less than 30 logged dives, have to participate in an orientation dive. An orientation dive is a normal dive which takes place at our house reef. The aim is to refresh basic dive skills and to get comfortable with the equipment before joining the boat trips to different dive sites. PADI Reactivate Under the scuba diving regulations of the Maldives and as per PADI standards, certied divers who have not been diving for more than a year have to complete a refresher program (PADI “Reactivate”). The “Reactivate” program offers certied divers a convenient, prescriptive, and enjoyable way to brush up basic diving knowledge and skills. The refresher program consists of a theory quiz, a brief lagoon session and a dive on our house reef. Morning Boat Dives Every morning, we offer a two tank boat dive to two different dive sites with highly qualied, profes- sional guides. Meeting time for the dives is 08:00, the boat leaves at 08:15. We will return to Royal Island around noon. Afternoon Boat Dives A single dive is offered in the afternoon, meeting time for the dive is 14:00, departure time 14:15. Others we also arrange full day dive trips, private manta snorkeling, night snorkeling and night dives upon request and even all level of padi courses up to dive master level. Equipment As shown in the price list, dives prices are with equipment and without equipment, and another piece of equipment rental is an extra charge, The prices shown are per dive, and the dive packages cannot be shared. Swim With Manta Hanifaru Bay the world’s most renowned manta ray hotspots are just 30 minutes from Royal island resort & spa. Every year between June and November, the lunar tides and monsoon currents trap high concentrations of plankton in the bay’s steep side, attracting manta rays and whale sharks from all over the Maldives. With mantas swimming to the surface to feed, snorkelers can easily experience the thrill of the feast. Please note that sightings are subject to weather conditions and the temperament of these gentle oceanic giants. Hanifaru Bay, a marine protected area, diving is not permitted, but snorkeling is allowed. There are also regulations regarding the dates and times of visits. There are a few medical conditions which can be hazardous while diving, listed below. Those who have, or are predisposed to, any of these conditions, should be evaluated by a physician. This Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire provides a basis to determine if you should seek out that evaluation. If you have any concerns about your diving fitness not represented on this form, consult with your physician before diving. If you are feeling ill, avoid diving. If you think you may have a contagious disease, protect yourself and others by not participating in dive training and/ or dive activities. References to “diving” on this form encompass both recreational scuba diving and freediving. This form is principally designed as an initial medical screen for new divers, but is also appropriate for divers taking continuing education.     Requirements for Scientific Diver Certification The steps to become a Certified Scientific Diver at the University of Washington (UW) are outlined below. 1. Obtain sponsorship for scientific diving by an appropriate University department or unit. Applicants who do not have a departmental sponsor and want to learn to be scientific divers can complete the Scientific Diver Course at UW Friday Harbor Labs. This course meets the requirements for full Scientific Diver certification as outlined below, and includes research projects for students to receive dive training. 2. Read the UW Diving Safety Manual. UW divers must understand and follow the safety, procedural, and medical requirements outlined in the manual and submit a signed copy of the Dive Manual Acknowledgement form. 3. Complete and submit the Diving Registration Form to the UW Diving Safety Officer (DSO). This form must be signed by the department official sponsoring the diver (e.g., principal investigator, department chair) . Submission of this form is a onetime requirement while at the UW. The form is resubmitted if any diver information changes. 4. Complete and submit documentation of recreational SCUBA diver training to UW DSO. Diving applicants must have completed a recreational SCUBA diving training course as a pre-requisite for scientific diving certification at the UW. Recreational SCUBA diving training must be provided by a nationally recognized organization (e.g., PADI, NAUI, SSI, IANTD, TDI). 5. Obtain Diving Medical Clearance from the UW Employee Health Center. Applicants will contact the UW Employee Health Center (EHC) to obtain necessary information for completing a dive physical and for transfer of medical records.

    Commercial Diving Physical Examination To the Applicant / Student: Attached are the forms and instructions for a commercial diving physical examination. One of the most important requirements for acceptance as a student in the Professional Certificate in Marine Technology at National University and to become a commercial diver is a thorough physical examination in accordance with Association of Diving Contractors International standards. As a commercial diver, it is a personal responsibility to always have a current physical exam. A current physical exam must have been completed within the last year and there must be no physical maladies which would preclude you from diving or making hyperbaric exposures. Although the commercial diving physical examination can be done by any licensed physician; it is always best to have the physical examination done by a physician who is trained in diving medicine or hyperbaric medicine. Attached is a list of physicians in Los Angeles and San Diego who are approved to conduct diving examinations. You must have the physical examination completed including the laboratory testing (which can take several weeks) prior to the beginning of the program. The cost of the examination can vary and supporting laboratory fees can range from $275 to $600 dollars or more depending on if the physician finds the need to run additional tests. You are personally required to provide the following forms completed and signed by the doctor: The attached National University Polytechnic Institute letter stating that you have passed the physical examination and are cleared for work as a diver and for hyperbaric exposures. This is the second year for SCUBA lessons and open water certification at MMI. Last September the first group of MMI SCUBA Tigers started their training with Instructional Staff of Southern Skin Divers Supply (SSDS), MMI’s partner in SCUBA training and recreational diving. After four weeks of training at MMI facilities 21 Cadets earned their Scuba Schools International (SSI) Open- Water Certification during their check dives at Morrison Springs and St. Andrews Jetties, FL. After that, the newly certified divers went drift diving and swam with the Manatees (picture to the Left) in the Rainbow River and Crystal River, FL. Many took advantage of inshore wreck trips out of Panama City and then learned about the benefits of Enriched Air NITROX and harvested some Flounder in the Winter. Their progression led to diving several wrecks off the coast of Alabama and began the work of helping to eradicate the invasive lionfish population. The MMI Scuba Tigers made their final dives this Spring off the shores of Orange Beach, AL on a sunken Navy Tug followed by the air craft carrier, USS Oriskany (the “Mighty O”) which is the largest man-mad reef in the world.
