Edited press release The National Thoroughbred Rac- ing Association (NTRA), Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters announced yes- terday that Michael Clevenger of Louisville, Kentucky, has won the 2010 Media Eclipse Award for Photogra- phy for his picture of the dramatic finish between Blame (Arch) and Zenyatta (Street Cry {Ire}) in the GI Breeders= Cup Classic at Churchill Downs Nov. 6. The photo ap- peared on the front page of the Louisville Cou- rier-Journal Nov. 7. This is the second Eclipse Award for Clevenger, 45, a staff photographer for the Cou- rier-Journal for the past 12 years. He won his first Eclipse Award in 2002 for a photo of that year=s Ken- tucky Derby finish. AWinning the Eclipse Award is truly exciting and an honor that leaves me speechless, be- cause I am blessed to be recognized for making images of a beautiful sport,@ said Clevenger. Santa Anita Park announced it is renaming the GII San Gorgonio H., to be run on New Year=s Day, as the Robert J. Frankel Memorial H., in honor of the late Hall of Fame conditioner, who won the San Gorgonio a record eight times and who holds Santa Anita=s all-time re- cord of 917 wins. The race is held for older fillies and mares going nine furlongs on the turf. Frankel was the leading trainer at Santa Anita on five different occasions; 1974-75, 1976-77, 1978-79, 1980-81 and 1981-82.
