The combined strategies provide an updated evidence base to support the delivery of sport and physical activity across the City. The strategies update the Playing Pitch Strategy and Facility Strategy (2009). 1.2 These documents together, developed using the up-to-date Sport England methodologies, provide the council and its partners with a robust evidence base and set of strategic priorities to direct future sports planning policy and funding. These strategies will underpin the delivery of the Councils new Physical Activity and Sport Strategy “Active Together” (2016) and the Council’s aspirations for the European City of Sport 2016. 1.3 The achievement of European City of Sport status supports the City Council’s priorities by: Helping to raise the profile of the City and wider county/surrounding areas on a national and international stage. -

The project was to use a Theatre in Education (TIE) programme to support Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education (PSHE) including anti- bullying awareness in targeted schools (middle and secondary), in the Staffordshire Moorlands area. The tour was delivered by Loudmouth Education & Training using their TIE programme Bully 4 U, designed to educate on anti-bullying. The tour was funded by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and we would like to thank Vicki Ellis, Member and Community Support Officer for her support. Established in 1994, Loudmouth Education & Training is a theatre company that supports schools and other organisations with their PSHE. Loudmouth’s aim is to help children and young people to have healthy, happy and safe relationships. The company uses drama, interaction and discussion to explore issues that affect children and young people. Loudmouth’s education and training programmes are proven to help learners to challenge attitudes, gain new skills and increase knowledge. “Very relatable to the age of the students. Key bullying topics covered. CHRONICLE 1 Andy Heath (Selwyn 1980-1985) Andy came to Denstone and Selwyn House in Michaelmas Term 1980 from Leek High School. The initial transition from local comprehensive to Denstone’s more demanding curriculum and the challenge of building friendships within the established networks from Smallwood Manor was quickly negotiated and Andy thoroughly enjoyed his time at College. Blessed with little co-ordination and a glacial turn of speed, sport was always a challenge although he was an enthusiastic front row forward for the reserve XV’s. Board honours were unlikely unless 1st XI scorers should ever receive recognition, whilst his athletic highlight was managing to finish 6th in the U16 Paarlauf, a selection mischievously foisted on him by a Housemaster exasperated by recurring misdemeanours. Academically stronger, he went on to study languages and Classics at A Level with strong encouragement from Sam Trounson, David Dexter and Ken Ryder, and in his final year was House Captain. Leaving Denstone in 1985, he read Ancient History and Latin at Swansea before training as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Nottingham, qualifying in 1991. With no great desire to remain in practice, he moved into industry in the early 1990s, initially with Vision Express. The sense of curiosity and adventure gained at Denstone led him to take on a wide range of international roles, helping to set up new ventures in Argentina, the Baltics, Hungary, Poland and the Philippines, before leaving in the late ‘90s to build a new optical business in Moscow. -
