NOTES

Kirk Watson It's my pleasure to lead the delegation of community and regional leaders on this year's Intercity Visit. I believe Seattle will be a city of benchmarks that will aid us in meas- uring progress in our region. I'm very happy you will be with us.

We hope these Intercity Visits will become one of the most meaningful Chamber experiences. We have more than 90 public and private sector leaders participating, a new record. It's exciting to visit a city known for its continuing successes and challenges, and one to which is fre- quently compared. We expect to learn from Seattle's expe- riences.

An Intercity Visit is aimed at helping us discover how other cities face community challenges and issues that may be similar to our own. Another very important outcome is the strengthening and building of relationships between our own business and community leaders.

Our three-day, two-night visit to Seattle will be intense, but it will address many of the universal challenges faced by all growing cities. We'll spend time studying Seattle's transit system with a focus on commuter rail. We'll also learn about the neighborhood planning process, how Seattle built its central library and how it funds a vibrant arts com- munity. We'll learn about the Education Alliance and the business link to education. Also on the agenda is a discus- sion about Seattle's downtown initiatives and Community Policing and Race Relations Initiatives. Further, in a break- out sessions, we'll gain insights through discussions with Seattle experts.

We appreciate your committing resources to this important experience and trust your return will more than equal the investment. Thanks for all you do for our community and region.

Sincerely,

Kirk Watson 2005 Chairman, Board of Directors Watson, Bishop, London & Brophy

36 1 IMPORTANT MESSAGE NOTES
