Second week with Mexican buddies

The Mexican buddies are still here. And it’s clear to see they’ve adjusted to our school. Just last week they starred in the Quakes basketball game scoring a whopping ten out of eleven points! They are kind and generous and it would be kind of you to say hello. Unfortunately, they won’t be able to see any snow according to weather forecasts, but really, it's anyone’s guess as to what weather is upon us. They have so far visited a lot of fun places, such as the Franklin Institute, Dave & Busters, Art Museum, Seaport Museum, Liberty Bell, The US Mint, Camden Aquarium, IMAX Theater, and much more. Unfortunately, the Mexican Buddies will be leaving on Thursday the 7th of February. But it is clear they have had a great time here. And in two short weeks, the 5th graders will be leaving to go to Mexico as part of the second half of the exchange! We wish the Mexican buddies safe travels to their homes.

Exclusive Article: Groundhog day & super bowl

You might have heard that the Chiefs have won the super bowl against the 49ers 31-20. At the halftime show Shakira sang “She Wolf '' and “Hips Don't Lie” and Jenifer Lopez (j-lo) sang . , , Love Don't Cost a Thing, Mi Gente, ft. J Balvin, , Born in the USA, ft. daughter Emme Maribel Muñiz, Let's Get Loud.

And in addition to that, guess what? We get an early spring! Officials say that the groundhog’s inner circle claimed that the groundhog did not see it’s shadow! And even though the groundhog’s story is based on no science whatsoever, Phil may be right! If you have been paying attention, you will have noticed that ever since the Super Bowl, the weather has started to warm up! Hopefully, you have been taking advantage of this warm weather because it's supposed to get colder again.

Valentines day/Cool days coming up

February has come! And with it the joy of knowing that Valentine's Day is upon us! Soon the streets will be aglow with the warmth of beating hearts. Do you want to get in on this glorious and loving action? Well you can! At the LOVE statue in , there will be an entire party known only as the “Red and Black love party”! Make sure to come down to the LOVE statue on th February 14 . As discussed in the previous issue, there will also be National Grammar Day, even though this is coming much later. As a reminder, it will th take place on March 4 . So far, everyone seems on board with the idea. Will people slip up? Or will they have their best grammar at hand? And who will walk away with the prize? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, we are coming up on the birthday of one of North America’s greatest veterans… George th Washington! On February 17 , we will celebrate the birth of our nation's first president! A little known fact about Washington: He wasn't elected. He was a great general, so people unanimously urged that he be made a leader of the US. So one can only hope that George Washington is up in heaven on the seventeenth partying the night away.

Sending Solutions

Dear Mr. Schillinger,

I try convincing my parents to give a free Chromebook my aunt has, but they won’t get it. All I want to do is work on it! For now, I have to ask permission to use my mom's laptop, and she’s not always ready to give it to me. Like when she is away and I can’t do homework! What's weird is that she spent $299.00 for a Nintendo Switch! I need to know what to say.

From, Confused in Mt. Airy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Mr. Confused I have a couple things to say about this. For one thing, your parents are probably concerned about privacy. I’ll that when they got you a Nintendo switch, they gave you games that don’t use online access. Am I right? And for another thing, you don't need a chrome book. If you have access to your mother’s, that’s probably all you need. But, if you really do want it, here is my advice: prove yourself. Do you want an example? I once   tried a completely new summer camp. My mom was nervous I wouldn’t like it. You know what? I loved it and made friends. And she gave me wireless headphones just for trying something new! Awesome, right?
So in summary, try doing something that will show your parents you should have a Chromebook.
Sincerely, Mr. Schillinger Riddles
The Quakes lost yet another game due to five foot eight kids. Eighth graders playing on the Hoopers were not really supposed to play. In an interview with Aydin Lember of the Quakes he said: “They started playing  one-eighth grader at a time. That was fine until they kept adding more and more to the mix. They could barely even get it in the hoop. The eighth-graders shot from a few inches away, missed, then another one got the ball and missed! That kept happening and we could not! Get! The ball!” At the end of halftime Aydin threw the ball he was practicing with on the ground and walked away. Aydin scored two of the three baskets, one on a breakaway and one on a rebound. Oscar Gasga scored the first basket when he weaved through the other team and shot! Aydin said: “Anyone can reach the ground. But not everyone can reach the sky. That's  why I play soccer.”
The next game is Wednesday, February nineteenth at three-thirty PM against Stratford friends.
