Dan Jurafsky iii iv Abstract This thesis is a study of nominal possessive constructions in modern Low Saxon, a West Germanic language which is closely related to Dutch, Frisian, and German. After identifying the possessive constructions in current use in modern Low Saxon, I give a formal syntactic analysis of the four most common possessive constructions within the framework of Lexical Functional Grammar in the ¯rst part of this thesis. The four constructions that I will analyze in detail include a pronominal possessive construction with a possessive pronoun used as a determiner of the head noun, another prenominal construction that resembles the English s-possessive, a linker construction in which a possessive pronoun occurs as a possessive marker in between a prenominal possessor phrase and the head noun, and a postnominal construction that involves the preposition van/von/vun and is largely parallel to the English of -possessive.

    INTELLIGIBILITY OF STANDARD GERMAN AND LOW GERMAN TO SPEAKERS OF DUTCH Charlotte Gooskens 1, Sebastian Kürschner 2, Renée van Bezooijen 1 1University of Groningen, The Netherlands 2 University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Abstract This paper reports on the intelligibility of spoken Low German and Standard German for speakers of Dutch. Two aspects are considered. First, the relative potential for intelligibility of the Low German variety of Bremen and the High German variety of Modern Standard German for speakers of Dutch is tested. Second, the question is raised whether Low German is understood more easily by subjects from the Dutch-German border area than subjects from other areas of the Netherlands. This is investigated empirically. The results show that in general Dutch people are better at understanding Standard German than the Low German variety, but that subjects from the border area are better at understanding Low German than subjects from other parts of the country. A larger amount of previous experience with the German standard variety than with Low German dialects could explain the first result, while proximity on the sound level could explain the second result.     NEWS The Conference Venue: University of Twente Campus The ISPRS Geospatial Week 2019 will be held on the University of Twente campus. The University of Twente (UT) is the only university in the Netherlands with a genuine campus. It is set in extensive parkland that houses buildings for education and research, facilities for sports and culture, student and staff accommodation and a shopping centre. The ISPRS Geospatial Week will take place in some of the buildings on the so-called ‘O&O plein’ (‘Education & Research Square’), such as the Hal B/Waaier and Carré buildings. The buildings on the O&O plein are located close together, connected by pedestrian walkways. In fact, the campus is a compact academic city located on the verdant Drienerlo estate. The buildings that have been erected there over the past half century are among the finest examples of recent architectural thinking. The campus was laid out in 1962 according to the principles of modern architecture or ‘New Objectivity’. The master plan imposed a clear structure on the site, with large buildings at strategic points, and separated residential space from work and recreation facilities. The University of Twente profiles itself as an enterprising research university. It provides education and conducts research in areas ranging from psychology and management to applied physics and biomedical technology. The core research areas are technology, medical innovation, nanotechnology and behaviour and society. Current enrolment numbers 10,000 students, of which 2,500 are international students. The university employs a staff of 3,000, making it the largest employer in Twente. The entrepreneurial character of the university is manifested in the large number of spin-off businesses it hosts.

    Nr. 119036 15 mei GEMEENTEBLAD 2019 Officiële uitgave van de gemeente Borne Aanwijzingsbesluit toezichthouders Omgevingsdienst Twente 2019, gemeente Borne De directeur van de Omgevingsdienst Twente, overwegende dat: • door de deelnemers aan de gemeenschappelijke regeling Omgevingsdienst Twente verschillende toezichts- en handhavingstaken op het gebied van de fysieke leefomgeving zijn gemandateerd aan de Omgevingsdienst Twente; • de colleges van burgemeester en wethouders en het college van gedeputeerde staten overeenkomstig artikel 5.10 lid 3 van de Wet algemene bepalingen omgevingsrecht de bevoegdheid hebben tot het aanwijzen van toezichthouders die met het toezicht op de naleving van het bepaalde bij of krachtens enig wettig voorschrift zijn belast; • dertien deelnemende gemeenten en de provincie Overijssel, op verzoek van de Omgevingsdienst Twente, besloten hebben deze voornoemde bevoegdheid te mandateren aan de directeur, te weten: - Gemeente Almelo - Gemeente Losser - Gemeente Borne - Gemeente Oldenzaal - Gemeente Dinkelland - Gemeente Rijssen-Holten - Gemeente Enschede - Gemeente Tubbergen - Gemeente Haaksbergen - Gemeente Twenterand - Gemeente Hellendoorn - Gemeente Wierden - Gemeente Hof van Twente - Provincie Overijssel • de mandaatbesluiten van bovengenoemde partijen aanvaard zijn door het Dagelijks Bestuur van de Omgevingsdienst Twente; gelet op: - het bepaalde in afdeling 10.1.1. van de Algemene wet bestuursrecht; - de Gemeenschappelijke Regeling Omgevingsdienst Twente; - de artikelen 5:11 en 5:12 van de Algemene wet bestuursrecht;

Op afvalgebied zijn we nog steeds op weg naar de regionale doelstelling van 50 kg restafval per inwoner per jaar in 2030. Een doel dat steeds dichterbij komt en waar alle gemeenten op hun eigen manier naartoe werken, met maatregelen die passen bij de gemeente. Op dat gebied waren er in 2019 ook weer volop ontwikkelingen: de voorbereidingen voor de invoering van diftar in Borne, de overname van de afvalinzameling in Haaksbergen, de voor-bereidingen voor de vierwekelijkse inzameling van restafval in Oldenzaal en de beleidsvoorstellen rondom extra maatregelen in Enschede. Alle genomen besluiten zijn in lijn met de scenario’s uit Afvalloos Twente en passen binnen de dienstverlening van Twente Milieu. De belangrijkste graadmeter om te zien waar we staan op het gebied van afval is de hoeveelheid restafval per inwoner per jaar.
