These maps document City of Savannah property holdings and transactions related to land subdivision and development, street openings and improvements, water and sewer lines, and property lines and right-of-ways (also see Record Series 3121-007 General Maps and Record Series 3121-008 East/West Maps). The Property Maps specifically document City properties, easements, and right-of-ways, and the majority date from the early to mid-20th century. The dates of the collection represent the information provided on the maps, as well as their date of creation. Therefore, when a copy of an earlier map is present, both the date of the original map and the date of the copy are provided. The earliest date of an original map in this collection is 1866. The bulk of maps dating from the second half of the 20th century are still in active administration files in the Engineering Department. System of Arrangement and Ordering: The Retrospective Maps Collection, Property Maps are arranged numerically by assigned map reference number. The original rehousing and inventorying project was completed by the Library and Archives in 1988, and maintained the original order of the maps in 29 map books with pages inserted in plastic sleeves. Each map book page contained anywhere from 1 to 7 maps. The maps were numbered according to book and page number (consequently, many maps had the same reference number since they appeared together on the same map book page). Over the years, the plastic sleeves of the map books have been deteriorating causing damage to the individual maps including, bleeding ink, transference of information from map to plastic, and transference of a greasy residue from plastic to map. In an effort to preserve the maps and halt the damage caused by the plastic sleeves, this record series was rehoused in 2006. All maps were removed from the plastic sleeves and assigned a unique reference number (map book #, page # and alphabetical character). Those maps small enough were rehoused in legal-sized folders and document cases. Oversize maps were rehoused in oversize folders and flat-file map drawers. All maps were interleaved with Permalife, acid-free paper in an attempt to absorb remaining residue and protect the maps from each other. In addition to addressing the unique preservation issues of the Property Maps, this rehousing project served several purposes: eliminated duplicate map reference numbers to facilitate retrieval, use and citation; made maps easier to handle; and facilitated the creation of a new Microsoft Access database inventory with additional keyword indexing functions to identify proper names not brought out in the original indexing system which allowed only one alphabetical term to be indexed per map. Descriptions of maps for the numerical inventory was taken directly from the original 1988 inventory and verified against the maps during the rehousing project. During rehousing, several maps were found to be missing and were so identified in the inventory, and several uncatalogued maps were discovered and added to the inventory. Prepared by L. This week, of course, it was the revelation that the new South African variant of the Covid virus had been detected in the Southport area. I attach a letter I received from Sefton and would like to take this opportunity to reinforce the message. There has been one confirmed case of the new variant in PR9, the Norwood Ward in Southport to be more precise. The government has instructed that 10,000 people over the age of 16 be tested in each identified area and Sefton hope that the new mobile testing centres and door to door tests will start from today. This is a fact finding operation to assess the extent of the possible spread and should not be viewed as a call for all residents in the area to self-isolate, but as a stark reminder that these new variants, if not necessarily more harmful, are far more easily transmissible and reinforce our obligation, as members of our community, to respect and enforce all the precautionary measures in place. The advice remains the same and the guidance hasn't changed regardless of whether you live or work in that postcode area. Stay at home if you can, go to work or school if you can't, and continue to follow the same precautions (hands, face, space) at all times. We should all ensure that we challenge ourselves and only make those journeys and interactions that are, genuinely, strictly necessary. If you live or work in the PR9 postcode, I would encourage you to get tested at one of the mobile test centres as this will provide valuable data on the spread of the infection as well as, hopefully, giving you some peace of mind.

Unlike in past years, where the Florida Rail System Plan was more descriptive of the separate freight and passenger rail systems, this plan is more visionary, strategic, and policy-driven. The plan was guided by a broad base of stakeholders, including the Rail Stakeholder Advisory Committee, members of the public and private sectors, modes of transportation, economic development and environmental interests, and citizen representatives. The Committee and others worked throughout the summer and fall of 2009 to develop an inventory of Florida's rail system needs and recommend priority investments that support the strategic goals, objectives, and policies of the Florida Rail System Plan. The Florida Rail System Plan is comprised of a Policy Element and this document, the Investment Element. The Policy Element provides a broad policy framework for the investment of limited state resources in Florida's rail system. The Investment Element builds upon the framework of the Policy Element by identifying the needs of Florida's rail system, establishing priorities for the investment of state funds, and setting forth future action steps necessary to implement the plan. Florida in the year 2030 will be shaped by the actions, decisions, and policy choices made today.
