For Immediate Release: October 6, 2017 GRAMMY® AND ACADEMY AWARD® WINNER A.R. RAHMAN’S THE FLYING LOTUS RELEASED TODAY ON KM MUSIQ RECORD LABEL Photo credit: Brandon Patoc and James Holt Conductor Ricardo Averbach led the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Symphony Chorale and Seattle Girls’ Choir Prime Voci ensemble in the world premiere of The Flying Lotus commissioned by the Seattle Symphony Seattle Symphony Assistant Concertmaster Simon James featured as soloist Worldwide Release: October 6, 2017 Seattle, WA – Grammy® and Academy Award®-winning composer A.R. Rahman releases a recording of the world premiere of The Flying Lotus on October 6, 2017. Commissioned by the Seattle Symphony and recorded live in concert, The Flying Lotus is Rahman’s first composition solely for orchestra and features Seattle Symphony’s Second Assistant Concertmaster Simon James as the violin soloist. “The Flying Lotus is a musical impression of where India was and where it’s going,” says Rahman in an interview with The Seattle Times. “India is very progressive now. People are in such a very strong kind of mood. I thought I should capture musically those feelings of elation and also helplessness in a way. How can you say that musically, and also with a sense of pride in it? It’s hard to explain in words, but I thought music could communicate those emotions.” The Flying Lotus was commissioned for the Seattle Symphony’s ninth annual Celebrate Asia concert, held on May 12, 2017. This cultural celebration is now a signature event in Seattle, presented in partnership with local Asian leaders from the region’s Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese communities. -

Watch out for the second British invasion Joss Stone's latest album, Introducing Joss Stone, has stormed into the US charts at number two. Her success follows hot on the heels of other UK artists like Amy Winehouse, KT Tunstall, James Blunt and Snow Patrol, all of whom have scored US chart success in the last 12 months . It seems reminiscent of the so-called "British invasions", which saw a wave UK acts conquer America in the 1960s and 80s. In April 2002, there were no British acts in the US top 100 singles for the first time in 38 years . -

Best Group went to German rockers Tokio Hotel, who also wowed the 9,000-strong crowd with a stunning rendition of their hit The World Behind My Wall, culminating in an explosive pyrotechnical display and the band's instruments consumed by flames. Placebo captured the Best Alternative prize while Turkey's maNga carried off the crown for Best European Act. Best World Stage Performance was won by Linkin Park while Pixie Lott was pronounced the first ever MTV Push Artist - both categories were added to this year's EMAs for the first time in recognition of the artists who have been championed by MTV on their global music franchises. -
Diarrhea Planet
Diarrhea Planet I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams “What's in a name? that which we call a rose / By any other name would smell as sweet." - Romeo and Juliet If Shakespeare was alive to get the Led out, he would've listened to Diarrhea Planet, Nashville's favorite six-piece rock and roll band. Outfitted with a drummer and bassist that barrel forth with the power of a thousand locomotives and a four guitar arsenal able to unleash a meticulous torrent of expertly crafted hooks, riffs and solos, DP take everything you knew you loved about rock, punk and pop, jack it up way past 11, and leave you catching your breath and massaging the kink in your neck from all that head banging. Over the past few years, Diarrhea Planet have packed basements, bars and clubs with enough power to cause a blackout at the Super Bowl (no one said they were not responsible for this year's fiasco), honing their chops and fine-tuning their shred. Diarrhea Planet's 2011 debut Loose Jewels (Infinity Cat) was a 100-meter sprint of pure joy, peppered with shred offs, fret-taps and a whole lot of whooping and hollering, fleshed out by undeniable pop sensibilities. For their next album, the band wanted to go as big as possible and delivered just that. They headed to Marcata Recordings, the barn-turned-studio in upstate New York owned and operated by Kevin S. McMahon, famed indie producer of records by Titus Andronicus, Swans, The Walkmen, Real Estate, and many others. -
